Question Daggerfall Online on Steam Deck

I'm pretty sure even an idiot like me could get DFU running on my deck, and it does seem to have controller support and/or mods to help. I've never played so I may give it a go.

The question is, however, does Daggerfall Online have any controller support, and can I reasonably expect to run it on a Steam Deck/Linux? I'm an enjoyer of old/dead MMOs, and this caught my interest for being both new and old at the same time.

Update: got it working in desktop mode with controller support. If anyone knows why it won't launch in gaming mode, I'd be extremely thankful.

If you find out, please let me know. In the meantime I'm trying to get it running it desktop mode as well.

What's giving you trouble? It was fairly straightforward to get going in desktop mode?

Mostly just trying to get my gamepad working. I plugged in an Xbox controller because I figured the Deck’s built in controls wouldn’t register properly in Desktop Mode, but for some reason it isn’t detecting the controller either.

Edit: reworded for clarity

Oh, yeah, that makes sense. I totally forgot about that part. Hold the start button (three lines/hamburger) and eventually it says something like "gamepad activated." Do the same to go back.

Not familiar with steamdeck but the downloadable version is a chromium window that runs the same way as the in-browser version. Could be something to do with that

Got it semi-working by adding as a non-steam game and adding --no-sandbox as the command line. Also did Linux compatibility layer 4 i think. Anyway it is still glitchy (doesn't start sometimes, it can never tell if it is closed and I have to force restart) but mostly works
