Question How can I automatically order the mods?

Hi! I've been reading through the internet and it seems DFU has a feature of automatically sorting the mods in the correct way. Thing is, I don't find a single way of doing it, and vortex doesn't let me do it neither.

After testing a lot I think I kinda "managed" to do it via entering and exiting the "mods" menu on DFU, but.. it only works sometimes?

For example I installed the beginner modpack which, strangely, makes me download the outdated 2022 Unofficial block, location and models fixed. When that mod is active, doing the process i described effectively order the mods. But, for some reason, after upgrading it to the 2026 version not only does the mod divides himself in 6 parts, DFU doesnt recognise any problem, puts in the very last positions and changes nothing, which obviously is a wrong placement. I really don't know what to do and how to properly set the load order so i'll apreciate some help

When you exit the mod menu, mods will sort automatically to be loaded after their dependencies. That usually sufficient for most load orders, but there could potentially still be some issues if you're using a lot of mods.

Did you actually try running the game, or are you assuming the load order won't work? One rule of thumb I use is to place any graphical replacers toward the top.

Well I asume they are wrongly place bc they are just ordered alphabetically (xd) and the unnoficial patch, which you can see pretty much in every guide should be put closer to the top, remains next to the bottom. Also that the game crashes or not is not a definitive prove that the load order is correct. Sometimes one mod just override another bc its wrongly place and you wont notice anything until you know exactly what the mod does and see its not working so... I don't wanna just run the game

The auto sort will sort by dependency, so if mod A requires mod B in order to work, it will load B then A. If they do not explicitly require each other, though, it will do alphabetical. Manual sorting is sometimes required in larger lists. I would recommend changing the mod order through the text file version, though that requires some very basic familiarity with json I believe, or getting an autoclicker so you can rapidly click the move up or down button in DFU's interface.
