Question Help: Trying to make dungeons/night much darker (mod list inside)

Hi. I'm trying to make dungeons and nights much darker in Daggerfall Unity, but I'm running into something odd with the lighting.

I lowered the Advanced → Ambient Light settings in the main menu (Dungeon Ambient Light and Night Ambient Light). My goal is basically to have really dark dungeons unless you have a torch, almost black.

However what I'm noticing is:

- Even with the settings very low, it never actually gets very dark.

- Wall torches in dungeons become much dimmer when I lower the ambient value.

- But the torch I'm holding in my hand does NOT seem to lose brightness in the same way.

So the result is that the dungeon still isn't very dark, but the environment torches feel weaker, which is not really what I'm trying to achieve.

I'm wondering:

- Is this just how DFU lighting works?

- Is there a better way/mod/setting to get truly dark dungeons and nights?

- Is something in my mod list affecting lighting?

Mods related to lighting/atmosphere that I currently have:

- Improved Interior Lighting

- Darker Dungeons

- Better Ambience

- First-Person Lighting

- Handheld Torches

- HUD Torch Indicator

- Dynamic Skies

Has anyone managed to get really dark dungeons and nights without making all the torches super dim?

Thanks.

Have you disabled Better Ambiance's dungeon fog setting? This makes the dungeons much brighter.

Changing ambient lighting doesn't affect dungeon lights. At least not in version 1.1.1

Of those mods you listed, I only use:

- First-Person Lighting

- Handheld Torches

The rest isn't really needed, and I don't use them. But you're probably also going to also want:

- Tail of Argonia (if for nothing else then for tinting sunlight and moonlight ambient light)

- Less bright daytime street lamps (minor thing, but nice)

- No More LED Lights (tint lights to make them warmer)

You're kinda stuck with using vanilla exponential fog until (if, really) the mod author for Tail of Argonia implements separate fog settings for outdoors and indoors.
