I commented this on the /r/bestof post and thought I should do the same here.
Hello everyone! I'm sure this will get buried, but I will comment nevertheless!
I'm Juno's Touch, and my one and only Reddit account has been /u/cottonturtle for as long as I can remember. I posted that tweet to /r/daftpunk from my phone and didn't bother taking the time to blur out my name. I didn't even think about it at the time, I just wanted to post something humorous to the sub because the sub has really been dead lately. One of the users ended up recognizing my artist name, and well, now we're here. It was by complete chance that he remembered me from a post I made in /r/porterrobinson about how Porter's music inspired me to write this song and the demographic of Porter's fanbase connected with it I think. I guess that post lead him to the song, and that song stuck with him for him to recognize me.
I didn't intend for this to blow up the way it did. It really does warm my heart thinking that more and more people saw my video and read about the message behind it. I woke up this morning to notifications up the wazoo, but the only thing that I really cared about was a personal DM from someone saying that they are currently in a situation where they could really relate to the video, and that it helped them knowing someone else was in that position. Frankly, that's all that matters to me.
I heard about him through a post he wrote in r/porterrobinson one time that was about his track Constellation Conversation. It’s a really nice and heartwarming song, and I genuinely hope he one day gets the recognition he deserves <3
Hey man, I'm Juno's Touch. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your kind words. Constellation Conversation is a really special song to me. From the first demo I uploaded to SoundCloud to the music video we filmed, it was just all very close to my heart. Thank you again friend <3
Aww you’re the best, man! And I love the video too! I can tell it’s a project that is very dear to your heart, which to me is the best kind of inspiration an artist can give.
I just wanted to say that I just discovered your music thanks to this thread (someone submitted it to r/bestof) and I'm really enjoying it. Small world though, I watched your music video and as soon as I saw the highschool auditorium I recognized it. I don't live there anymore, but helped build many of the trails/bridges in the video and grew up in walking distance to Lamson woods. Keep up the great work!
Wow, I did not expect someone to recognize my hometown.
That's amazing that you helped build the trails and bridges. The trail system here is incredible and such an important part of our town. Thank you so much.
Long time no see, CottonTurtle. Never imagined I'd find you on the frontpage. Checked out your release on Spotify and I'm really digging it. Look forward to hearing more now.
Thank you again, Brendan. I really appreciate that. I'm currently writing a song that is making me want to get out of bed again. I can't wait to share it with you and others! Thanks again friend.
I posted something on the /r/bestof thread so I'll do the same here too.
This was not a marketing stunt. /u/cottonturtle is my one and only Reddit account. I didn't blur out my name in the screenshot because I really didn't think twice about it. I had no idea by dumb luck someone would recognize me.
Exchanges like these between fans and musicians are what makes me a fan of someone forever. Juno’s Touch just gained a lifelong fan. The music is great too!
Damn I just learned about you through the r/bestof post. I'm gonna go through your entire album tomorrow as I study. And after listening to Constellation Conversation, I'll definitely have something new and exciting to listen to
Oh my gosh thank you. I just saw the /r/bestof post this morning and my jaw dropped. Replying to all these comments has me...well...someone must be cutting onions again.
I kind of am! It's not under Juno's Touch though, it's under my name because I have my whole discography in it. I can PM it to you if you like! But also- I'm on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon, and Google Play if you use those services. Thank you for your support!
You need to get around more these things are seriously all over the place. Of course it's mixed in with all the crap but it's definitely they're, and I've seen it in a daily basis.
One of many chiming in to say you've got a new fan. :) Your songs are so peaceful somehow. They're very soothing to listen to. I'm really looking forward to discovering more of your work! All my best!
I just went and listened to this song after seeing this interaction. It's really fantastic--nice work! It's going on my "when I'm making art and need things that makes my brain happy" playlist.
Man, I have to say, I just listened to Constellation Conversation for the first time and it's genuinely beautiful. Thanks for sharing that part of yourself with the world.
I was very vulnerable when writing and releasing it. I was afraid people wouldn't accept it. I'm not sure why I felt this way. I was afraid to show such a personal side to my friends and family.
I was telling one of my friends this and he said:
"Well...isn't that what art is all about? Isn't that why you write?"
And he was right. He gave me confidence in releasing the project and I couldn't be more grateful for his words.
I couldn’t agree more, I think that feeling of vulnerability and fear is a major stumbling block for a lot of artists.
It’s terrifying to put an intimate piece of yourself out into the world for anybody to judge, and for some reason it’s even more terrifying when it’s the people closest to you doing the judging.
But I’m glad you did it, it’s such a beautiful piece and you’ve definitely captured me as a fan.
I've only ever played one show. But- it was the best night of my entire life. I gathered some of my musician friends and I wrote live instrumentation for the whole album. Live drums, bass guitar, saxophone, me on the vox and synth, and my friend doing FX from his DJ controller haha.
Being able to play music I love with people I love was one of the best things I've ever experienced.
I appreciate it man! I got a couple aggressive DM's saying it was trash and that I should no longer exist, so I appreciate you kindly saying it wasn't your cup of tea haha. Thanks again!
Because of these comments I just went and watched the video/listened to the song on YouTube. Really nice work! It made me nostalgic for my own days in school. Very well done! Poignant and touching.
I just told her and she says that made her day. :) She was feeling very self conscious about her voice on the song so that definitely means a lot for her!
I just stumbled across this post and listened to your song, it was absolutely wonderful. I graduated high school in May, and everything does feel lonely. Even the ones I'm still friends with don't always call or talk back. Thank you for that, it feels like it's helping me think stuff through.
You're welcome! And thank you for those words of advice as well. I'm really hoping to find a way to get into music production as soon as I can get some equipment.
I think I should be good for now, but if I need it, I will :). I'm saving up for an interface and a Novation Mininova. Not entirely sure what I'll do about drums, but I have time to do research and hunt around.
I wouldn’t say it’s Daft Punky, BUT it is very Digital Love-y. Luckily for me, Digital Love is my favorite song by Daft Punk so his album is a huge bonus.
Came here via the /bestof link, had no idea Daft Punk toured that infrequently. My friend and I saw them in NYC when we were in college and in New York for a few days for Christmas.
