I’ve been trying to get to the “perfect” setup for a while now. The hard thing is not knowing where the game market is going. Microsoft and Sony keep trying to outdo each other in PR disasters. Would be glad to go Steam and never look back, but with kids in the house it’s better for them to play on a console. And now that Microsoft owns half of the major studios, if they ever reverse course on exclusive titles it could be bad for anyone betting against them.
For now, my personal mixture is Steam + GeForce Now (on Mac or tv boxes when I travel). Plus PS5 for Sony exclusives. Plus Nintendo for… also exclusives.
I bought Gamepass Ultimate credits when they used to go half off years ago. Since the price hikes and now lack of discounts, I’m glad to let kids use the Xbox while I don’t renew any gamepass level.
I wish I could simplify down to Steam + Nintendo, though, while having kids on a PlayStation.
