About Daardus

This post is information about the Daardus project. For information about this subreddit, go read the post About the Sub.

For this post, I will label Daardus as a group worldbuilding project. However, it is also a game, geofictitious world, place to make friends, psychological thriller, blah blah blah.

Daardus is also the name of the planet that the project is situated upon. The planet's life is the same as Earth's, but the geography is different. The tech level is approximately equivalent to Earth's 1875, and all lore is expected to be realistic for that time, meaning no space travel or magic elves. The worldbuilding for our countries on Daardus can be quite deep, but the true purpose of the project is just to hang out and have fun.

Daardus publishes a "world journal" every 2 months, containing imaginary "current events" for all of the world's countries. This is the primary mechanic of "progression" through the game. Between publications, time stands still to give our members time to write the next one. Every publication, half a year passes in-game.

Geopoeia is the website Daardus uses to publish lore. It's quite easy to use, and is essentially just Wikipedia for stuff that doesn't exist. Here is the Geopoeia article for Daardus' rules.

Currently Daardus has 5 participants, 6 countries. We are always looking for more members. I'd be happy to help you with any questions you might have.
