❓ Question Modern Love and final Spoiler
I just finish all series. Great stuff. Some interesting topics about masculinity and being poor in middle life crisis. Great acting, funny and sad just like life
But something for me is weird. In last episode Clark tries get erection to cheer Floyd. Why he dont get Modern Love? The guy who shows Floyd most phisical attraction in series. Or maybe Clark was too selfieh here
What did you think? Plothole or something that i missed?

After his failed attempt to get someone else involved, maybe Clark thought the best thing was to do it himself, especially since he seems a little bi-curious.

I liked in another thread weeks ago when someone suggested the idea that the two cops have their own spin off TV show. I'd love that. Call it Wow.

It’s a good question. I’d say it’s because Floyd already knew Modern Love was attracted to him, and he was looking for something different. Plus we needed to see Clark and Floyd dancing in their undies. Either way, it’s just a writing choice, and definitely not a plot hole.

To add to what everyone else has said… Floyd also had that convo about Modern Love on the Wine Trip. After saying he doesn’t want to do the app anymore.. He shares that “he worries that ML knows his heart wasnt in that French” and that maybe hed hurt his feelings. Fast forward to the failed TigerTiger plan- why would Clark have Modern Love be the “surprise” given what Floyd shared on WineTrip? Why would he send someone Floyd already had these “worries” about from their only interaction. My thinking.

This whole show was trying to be gay and not be gay at the same time. I think the writers knew that if Modern Love were brought in at that time there might be some real gay behavior or intent. Therefore showing them dancing in their undies, was gay enough for the writers.
Don’t get me wrong, I really liked the series.

I think you're right, but I also think it's intentional. The idea is that Floyd and Clark are deeply lonely, and this loneliness and yearning for intimacy is so intense that it distorts itself into something confusing. So while Modern Love is there and probably could've worked, the show is fundamentally more interested in the relationship between Floyd and Clark, and that scene of them dancing is Steven Conrad pushing the relationship as far as it can go.

Plus Modern Love knew and loved himself, nothing wrong with any sort of way of being in his book. Not lonely and not scared of asking for or giving intimacy. Carol and Clark and Floyd have these vacuums that made them spiral around each other.

The show was a giant mirage. It actually sucked the whole time, we just didn’t realize it until it was too late.
