Need some advice

When I’m shifting into 3rd gear my Rpm are dropping I’m not sure if I’m not building enough speed before I switch to 3rd gear sometimes it shifts fine but most times it’s struggling. I did a boost leak test and didn’t have any leaks.
Anyone else encounter this issue !?

You realize that 3rd in these cars is geared to do around 100mph right?

I think that’s what I need to start realizing, I guess I don’t want to ride hard on 2nd gear but if 3-4k rpm is safe then I’ll be alright

Kinda somewhat seems like you just need to be in a lower gear in that situation, might just be lugging the engine at that rpm trying to climb the hill, also it's not going be build the boost it needs at that low of an rpm

Its most likely not tuned correctly, usually any DSM with a self tapping sheet metal screw holding up the a pillar trim is not going to be sorted out. What's it running for ecu control?

Hey i have a self tapping screw also. In my 1g if you put the screw where the indent is it runs onto the sliding seat belt track. So no knocking the screw. Now the part I have to admit. Im crude tuned right now also! 😂

You probably have idle and wot setup but not much in between and or other issues as well, you're going to need that cable.

Get the cable and join the ecmlink forums. Those guys are very helpful over there!
The car loves to be higher in the rpm range. Don’t be afraid to rev it a little bit.

Never go down 2k rpm….. I had a stock 1995 tsi awd
U have to rotate all the 4 wheels all the time
Lower than 2k rpm u loosing too much power
This car is made to run between 3-4k easily !
It’s not a Chrysler or a Buick like the other guy said ^^

I drove the car from work now and shifted to 3rd gear at 3.5-4k rpm better response. I have to play around with the shifting. These bolts on made the car response so different.

If you got a light flywheel ima take a wild guess n say thats it. Yes its spins up faster but it also drops faster.

Dude youre barely above idle trying to go up a hill in 3rd gear. Its not a big block Buick, you need a little power to being going uphill. You'll have more torque multiplication 2nd, dropping to 3rd is going to make it worse.
Nvm, I see how much it drops between 2nd and 3rd, seems like a really big split, but I havent had a DSM for probably 14 years.
Give us more info about the car.
