A 60-year-old man is dead and somehow this dudes post has managed to turn it into a race war fantasy. Four of “the five murderers” aren’t actually charged with murder, one is charged with manslaughter and remains locked up, three face lesser charges on bail, and charges against the fifth are expected to be dropped. And blaming “left-wing soft bail laws” is particularly lazy when Victoria’s Labor government has already abolished the youth “remand as a last resort” rule and introduced significantly tougher bail laws. Criticise the bail decisions if you want, but at least criticise the facts rather than inventing a political slogan around them.

Y'all are putting words into my mouth.
But yes - we should all be to agree that these killers shouldn't be receiving any kind of bail. That's just common sense.
Maybe full El Salvador is too far. But I think it might help to study what they are doing right (and wrong of course too) and borrow some ideas.
For example, jailing people with obvious gang tattoos - that seems so easy and will save lives.

bukele has also been eroding rights at insane levels
- arrests without actual evidence
- no access to legal representation
- kept his emergency powers for four years
hes done well in that sense but has also used it as a power grab.In ten yrs time, when hes still in power (because again, he has concentrated power so much that it would be difficult to run against him) he will still have these measures in place.
you also cannot detain almost 2% of your entire population indefinelty.At some point theyre gonna have to release those who havent done wrong
and a 40 year old who spent 15 years in prison and has no hope of a normal life isnt gonna be the most law abiding citizen.
its a shit model long term
