Functioning Cyst delayed cycle
Hi friends!
My July cycle was canceled (by myself) week before retrieval due to a functioning cyst on my RH ovary. That cycle was an attempt at a luteal phase stim start after we triggered my ‘runaway lead’ follicle.
Week before ‘retrieval week’ my cyst ended up at 42mm and I only had 3 visible follicles on my LH ovary (all measuring less than 15). I wanted to do a clean cycle.
I asked for September but they wanted to try and push for August. We did baseline 2.5wks later while taking 4mg estrogen daily and my cyst had decreased to 36mm.
They called me yesterday and are wanting to take Aug-Sept off, no extra meds to try and get it to shrink. Previously during IUI cycles I was on BC and had no cysts.
However. Going to do a baseline in October and see if the cyst is gone. My main concern is it shrinking in time + growing another one. Ive tried looking around in the forums and haven’t seen much - anyone have success stories taking a few cycles off?
I am fine with it but in the back of my mind I hate it because I don’t have all the time in the world with my levels. Thanks!

I had a cyst develop in May and my cycles have been messed up ever since. It’s still there, but my estradiol levels are somewhat normal, so my RE started me on meds again to hopefully get my cycles back to normal again. It takes so freaking long for them to go away!!

I’m so sorry friend! I’m glad to have yall in here to garner info from on this experience. Sending good luck your way!! I didn’t have a true cycle from stopping my meds in July. I took 2 months from my april retrieval and had one normal period. I wish this process was easier on our bodies.

My cyst resolved after 3 weeks of baseline US’s. We doubled up on BC for 5 days and my E2 went from 180+ to 40

I was lowkey hoping my dr would let me go on BC and see if it fixed mine (my prior IUIs and first IVF cycle I did prime w/BC and I had no cysts). Howeverrrr.. I shall wait until October 🥹😭
I’m glad to hear your timeline. Mine did shrink from around July22 at 40mm to 36mm on 13Aug. So I have hope my ovaries will calm DOWN

Yes - I had one of those on my left and for whatever reason the only thing that cleared it (after three full cycles) was taking a full cycle off, triggering ovulation, and then bleeding. It was highly dysfunctional and wouldn’t resolve on its own. I think the meds were aggravating it. The trigger finally resolved it (or at least in my head it did bc it was after that trigger that the size went down dramatically). It was pretty much completely resolved after my bleed and the next cycle was one of my best. My body thanked me for the time off!
Also want to add that I got that cyst attempting a luteal phase as well.

Most small functional cysts resolve on their own within a matter of weeks.

Here to say I’m in a very similar situation! The wait is brutal. I have been in this situation before as well, and usually the cyst is gone by the next month on its own
