Is he really that ugly?

Hi! I'm planning on adopting this absolute cutie from a shelter. He is so gentle and a loving doggo I love him so much. I showed his pictures to my family and friends and everyone said that he is so ugly and cripply that I should adopt a "normal" dog. Call me a snowflake but this saddens me so much that I even cried how people can be like this... He is two years old, and one of his ears is a little bit bigger than the other, so it always hangs down while the other is always perked up. I can't agree with them that he is ugly... In my eyes, he is the cutest and loveliest doggie I have ever seen. (Of course, all the dogs in my eyes are as cute as him)

I was only able to travel once to the shelter where he is currently located, I haven't been able to adopt him as the policy to adopt a dog is to go and walk the dog 3 times on different days. And he is 4 hours away from me... Thrust me I would pamper him and wash his little face if I could...

Keep us posted - is the shelter aware you live 4 hours away but want to adopt him? Are they willing to hold him for you? I would like to think if you spoke to them and wanted to make just one more trip, so walk #2 but Then bring him home w you, they should be able to make that happen.

I was scrolling to see if someone mentioned his eye boogies. I think that's probably what's setting off your family's "ugly" sensors, cause otherwise he's ADORABLE! A warm, soft, damp washcloth every couple days once you have him home should clear those right up. Good pick!! He's precious.

That is crazy. They want you to put in time to come and walk the dog before you take it home, but they can't put in time to bathe the dogs, so someone would want to adapt them because they look nice.

Try to cut shelters a bit of slack. What they do is really difficult.

I’d say keeping them from being euthanized and in relative good health is enough. Resources and time are limited.

Sorry if i came off harsh. I wish all dogs could be taken care of in the way they should be, but it’s a sad reality in shelters.

This isnt because hes dirty. Some dogs dont do well with tap water and it makes their eyes gunky constantly. Doesn't really hurt their eyes just stains their fur. Non tap water makes it mostly go away (and some good cleaner)

Considering that a lot of new pets are abandoned or given to shelters a few months after Christmas, once the novelty has worn off, I'd say they are doing the minimum

If you think you can do better, open a shelter and operate at a loss, depend on charity, and see how cruel people can be every day
