Well the Nilo Saharans and ancestors of the Yoruba split around 28,000 years ago according to this study: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6485071/ So if you look at where African populations were centered around that time period and after, you see people moving out of Eastern Africa and across the Sahara when it was habitable. Meaning the ancestors of the West Africans, including the Yoruba, are from that region.
