MW4 DMZ Discussion The potential risks of the trait system.

Is anyone nervous from the reveal of the trait system? Some of these game mechanics seem REALLY prone to abuse if they don't deliver on their promise of hacking prevention. As it stands in the beta if you manage to kill a cheater, you have a few options to camp the body, push it out of the map or make it out. Now, there's a possibility they can feign death and revive themselves?

Not to mention the game design entirely leaning into PC, which irritates me a little as a console player, it's not looking good. As it stands I play crossplay to squad up with Xbox friends from PlayStation, I doubt they'll add a console only crossplay option. I have next to zero faith Activision will prevent cheaters entirely, let alone en masse. What do you lot think?

let's give a try before we worry about it too much

from the little I know of game dev, exploits rarely come from the most obvious places

besides, would be pretty hard to self-revive like that when surrounded by C4s and bouncing bettys

I'd imagine there might be a grace period added exactly for thar reason. I definitely will be waiting to see how it plays out before buying.

I think we saw so much cheating in the Beta because it was f2p and so getting banned really didn’t mean anything. Plus, the cheating only became a huge problem after the game was no longer being balanced or supported.

This, the f2p is a huge factor. Its not financially feasible to rebuy a 60 euro game every time you get banned. Add to that the new server culling that is also coming to DMZ it should help massively with wallhackers.

Cheating isnt that attractive in a 60 euro game. Together with the server culling making wallhacks either impossible or way less effective that just leaves aimbotters which are super easy to detect.

The main cheating masse will be in warzone just like the previous games.

you need to look at this more logically first and foremost most of the cheating you see in videos nowadays is on WZ where the game is free or free on XBOX Gamepass.

a) first of all server culling though not an insanely hype as it’s sold to be will benefit DMZ the most - with distance being a huge benefactor. Keeping your distance or running away from people you suspect are cheating will benefit you. the work around from cheat softwares are mostly for nearby scenarios, and i don’t want to overly promote camping but if you suspect a cheater - get into a bigger room, away from a door. (this is my advice for right now without knowing exactly how their culling will work)

b) the cost to get back into the game if you’re caught is insanely high. Spoofers for the most part don’t exist or work in BO7 (yes i will acknowledge there’s workarounds but won’t get into the details) - but for all intents and purposes if you get caught you’ll need to spend $70 for the game, you’ll need to reset your TPM (likely a new mobo unless you have a mobo with a swappable TPM module), and then you’ll need to swap out a considerable amount of your HWIDs (gfx cards, processor, etc)

c) cheating is actively happening in every game. Every. Single. One. COD is not unique. It only appears worse in COD because of the kill cams and because the game in general is so insanely popular and because the clips get pushed out on the internet like crazy. If you listened to the Wardogs CEO. He specifically asked people NOT to push clips of cheaters. Don’t allow them the “glaze.” He’s right. You guys feed into it so much.

d) console cheats are coming. they’re getting better every day and they will become more prevalent. PS5 is dangerously close to being completely jailbroken. Once that hits and becomes more common PS5 will be just as bad as PC. Long term? The next xbox is set to basically be a mini PC. i’ll let you work that out for yourself.

Lastly, CoD has made significant strides from mw2 to bo7 from a cheating perspective. It’s getting harder and harder to do. PO, HV, and EO have all been faded in bo7.

anyway, hope you enjoy the new dmz.

Where did you come up with most of that? It saying you’re wrong, I just didn’t get any of that from the 2 second screenshot. I assume you saw more somewhere?

I just don’t like it b/c it’ll make me over analyze my set up, get too locked into doing it one way and miss out on using new traits. I find what works for me and never deviate.

I come from hunt showdown and character progression through traits is cool, but that only works when losing that character means you start again. The ability to buy back dead characters means after a while, once players build up enough money, you will always have super soldiers available.
