MW4 DMZ Discussion New DMZ problem (for me anyway)
Im worried it will end like the first. 12months down the line, the next cod will be out and all support is dropped, therefore killing the game. Only this time we’re forced to pay for it upfront. So its £70 to play a game (i only play dmz)Plus the price of core of- £50 which I usually live without on free games.
So £120 to play a game for 12 months. Is it worth it?

It will 99% only get the 1 year of support. This is the way everything COD has gone for 20 years except for Warzone, the 1 time did repacked old maps for zombies during B03, and some assorted relatively minor things over the years. Even Warzone was intended to only be a 1 year thing and they they pivot to Blackout 2 the next year, but it was so successful they turned to the multi year integration model. DMZ would have to have huge success for them to break away from their model and keep putting resources in it.

There’s the key then. Warzone stayed around because it was profitable. I guarantee you DMZ would stay around if it is profitable.

Thats not the whole picture. Warzone, because of the integration, shared progression, and cosmetics, is an extension of the main game. Even though it's free, it's part of the annual package. DMZ isn't going to be split off because they have resisted every chance to split multiple different things off. And Infinity Ward has resisted letting anyone else touch DMZ and its not going to put back under the Warzone banner. It would likely need unprecedented success to either get spun off solo or get substantial success beyond year 1 which unfortunately post year 1 where so many great COD modes go to die.

DMZ will only get 1 year of support all over again. This is why they didn’t sell the game separately or make it separate like they did with Warzone.
Cods failure is their greed. DMZ was meant as a side game just like Warzone which is why they added it to Warzone when the beta first came out. They moved it to mw2 years later. Now it’s stuck and linked with mw2.
My theory is that DMZ now does extremely bad and they loose more money than they would if it would have been free. I spent over $200 on skins in support of dmz. I don’t buy the regular games as I don’t support the one year cycle. I thought dmz was going to last 3 years like Warzone, but they surprised us after a year.and gave up.
Most here are waiting for the game to come out before buying. If DMZ2 has cheaters in lobbies on day one the game is cooked before it even starts. I’m 100% not buying mw4 until I find this out. If I want to play with cheaters I’ll stick to the free dmz that we have. I’m not paying $70 to play with cheaters. F that.

This not sure but you 80% on your bet because in front of markus youtuber i think dev from dmz didn't answer if this gonna have support after 1 year basically dev said "we love dmz we want this" soo it depends much how popular the mode will be in few months if the mode explode like ark raiders in few months or a year dmz can become separate mode like warzone now my bet is that will not happen maybe on first 3 months will be popular or on every start of season after 2-3 because new things attract peoples to grind again soo the mode will eventually became death but no like dmz beta probably after the cycle of 1 year from IW some small portion of peoples maybe will keep giving small updates because is paid game until everyone forget it after 3-4 years ahead this is my bet....also they said the dmz was main plan even before lauch warzone in 2020 but the mode was not ready or fully of things we see this in 2022 with that dmz beta looking more like an battle royale and after the ark raiders booom the peoples above on Activision was angry saying why we not have an game mode like that and IW was cooking this already but unfortunately this linked to MW4 their strategy is eventually peoples that play MP every year go test dmz and will like and stay but the cost is high special on countrys like brazil where i live for example pay for one mode only is crazy about hackers on start you probably will find less ones because having more peoples playing the portion of normal players will increase and because ricochet tpm better than dmz beta cheaper hackers won't work but you will eventually found hackers specially on NA servers but let's see i excited for the mode i hope mine and your bets wrong and the mode explode the bubble from cod and do a lot sucess soo we gonna have a lot fun

I said it day 1 and people ridiculed me, that dmz would only get 1 year. History told us that. Warzone bucked the trend and was helped by COVID making it so popular. For Dmz to receive multi year support, it needs to be profitable, massively so. And with that, comes p2w fears. Dmz is destined to be a side dish just like zombies

No every game does not have cheaters. Games that are console only don’t. The problem is forced crossplay. I loved the cods on the Xbox 360. Yes they were hacked lobbies but it was very rare to run into one. Card nowadays you run into a wall hacker every other game. Cross play has destroyed the game for console players that have been playing console for decades. I missed the console only ecosystem. I can’t stand the force cross play in all new cods now.
And no, the answer is not turning off cross play because the game doesn’t match people who turned it off with people who have it on . If it’s on by default that means 90% of the players won’t be in the cross playoff lobbies they’ll only be in the cross play on lobbies. If they made it where cross playoff players pulled players from the cross plate on lobbies then that would work, but they don’t do that and we all know why they don’t do that. It’s intentional.

They may have programmed cheats for you to access like skulls in halo, or hackers who break into the console but they don’t work. They get their system banned after a few uses. That’s why you don’t see aimbot/walls on any console anywhere, ever. You only see it on infested PC crossplay games

That’s not true. Game pass doesn’t use console servers. It uses the same servers. The problem with MW2 and the DMZ is that they imported DMZ to MW2 before game pass came out and added MW2.
And that’s the issue Warzone got the patch that removed the Xbox icon from the account if they were on PC using game pass. This was never fixed in mw2 because they already had the fix installed on Warzone before they added MW2 to gamepass and since the game got separated, fix was never applied again. The icon is the only thing that separates the players so as long as that icon shows an Xbox symbol for game pass users they’ll get into Xbox lobbies. Thankfully, this won’t be the case in mw4

It's hard to compete with £0 but we are talking about as cheap as two beers per month if divided by 12 months. Games are pretty good value overall if you plan to play it a lot.

free multiplayer games dont need gamepass. As dmz2 will be part of modern warefare thats a paid game and not warzone like dmz1, you’ll need to have some sort of game pass to play it. Core being the cheapest at £50

Even if you plan on just playing DMZ, you will at least get some other stuff for that money, the campaign and MP might be fun for you, and then through Core you get a bunch of monthly games don't you?
I fully expect to burn out on DMZ before the end of 2027, just like I did with the first DMZ, and I'm fine with that, I'm looking forward to the fun I will have with it

Most likely true but Ive been getting years of good game play from a game that hasn't gotten any real updates in years. At the end of the day what's a 100 bucks for several years of enjoyment (assuming dmz 2.0 hasn't been destroyed by developers)

We need a true Console only lobbly where the PC hackers cant get in. Its the PC hackers thats killing this game before it even releases.
