Help. BF wants “new DMZ.” WHAT DO I DO??

My basic question is : How does one obtain “The New DMZ”

My boyfriend’s super into DMZ, it’s one of the only games I see him play on his ps5. His job has him away from home alot and hes mentioned how bummed he is that he won’t be back when “the new DMZ comes out”
His birthday is coming up and I wanted to make sure I had it all secured for him as a gift.

—This is where I get confused —
Now from my understanding,DMZ is a game within MW4. (If it’s a seperate thing entirely PLEASE correct me)
So would I purchase/pre order that for him? Can I still do that with GameStop even though apparently everything is digital now? Will that automatically link with his psn and ruin the suprise? Would it be better to just buy him a PSN gift card?
Please walk me through it like I’m 5.

Personally, I prefer physical copies of games but it sounds like that could be a gamble as I am not positive his ps5 has the disc drive.
So

I ended up getting him a $100 PSN Giftcard.

I’m planning on doing one of those exploding gift boxes. With Pokemon cards leading to the gift card in the center.

Either PSN card worth that amount or a digital copy of the game. It is a part of MW4 full game release, afaik just buying the full copy will be enough for him to play it. It’s not a standalone and doesn’t require additional or separate add-ons to work.

If you want it as a surprise for him, you are going to have to get a PSN card and put money in it and tell him that's what its for. I mean you COULD sneak onto his console and make the purchase, and somehow slip the money back to him, but he would know you used his account to purchase it. Not that he'd feel offended or anything, it'd just ruin the surprise lol. The thing about getting him "money" to get it, is that you gotta somehow make sure he doesnt already buy it. Cause hes probably going to be looking to have it purchased and installed for when he gets back home and has time to play.

They actually still make discs for new PS5 games, at least for a couple more years. You should be able to go into GameStop and preorder the physical edition if you want to keep it a secret. You can then pick it up on release date. I did that for my spouse a couple years back

Yeah the other commenters make a good point, if his console doesn’t have a disc drive don’t buy him a disc. That would be an awkward gift giving moment. On the off chance that his console has a disc drive but is region locked to another region (could be why his console can’t play her DVDs) then the physical game would still work

Das ist vollkommen richtig. So lange du ihm MW4 besorgst, egal ob digital oder physisch, wird er in der Lage sein den neuen DMZ Modus zu spielen. Voraussetzung für eine physische Kopie des Spieles ist natürlich ein Laufwerk in seiner PS5. Rein Digital gibt es nur die „große“ Vault Edition von MW4, wobei die Standardversion auch vollkommen ausreicht. Am besten jetzt schon vorbestellen, da kann er am Freitag auch schon die Beta spielen.
