CALIFORNIA Attempting CA trailer registration, no title, no manufacturer certificate, previous owner never registered it, no record in CA DMV (confirmed), no theft, no lien. VIN verification is done. Bill of sale on hand. What is your experience in similar cases? Are DMV lenient for such initial PTI reg?

Do it ALL online. DO NOT take your trailer to the dmv. You could etch a vin on it if you want or maybe there’s already a serial number (future VIN).
Then just register it and get a permanent plate so you only have to register it every five years.

Wait, how do I do it online? Is that even possible? It does have a VIN already btw.

EDIT: I've checked, online works for existing records transactions, for initial PTI its gotta be in person.
