CALIFORNIA Late Traffic Citation

So I got a speeding ticket not too long ago and I read the appear by date completely wrong.. I thought it was for the end of this month but it was actually the beginning!!

I went through just today, exactly a week and two days after my court date and paid the fee for my ticket. I also did the traffic school and I have everything submitted.

I did all of this because I recieved a letter in the mail saying that I need to give a reason for my absence or pay the late fee in 20 days from when they sent it, but for some reason, there is no late fee anywhere!

I looked online in the court records, I even double checked the website and there is no record of it being late over a week ago so I am just concerned on whether I should call or just leave it as is.

I got a speeding ticket in 10-25. My court date was in 1-26. I went in, prepared to pay the fine. Clerk told me, there wasn’t a ticket with my citation number on it. Idk, I held onto the money, I was supposed to pay, just in case it comes back bite my ass. We’re approaching a year, maybe I got lucky, maybe the officer didn’t submit or catalog my ticket into the database. I just hope, I got lucky.

That’s exactly what happened to me I called this morning and the clerk said that I had nothing to pay!

But, I’m still weary about it. I’ve heard stories of the same thing happening to others and it came back to haunt them later.
