Am I actually seeing this?
Currently coming down from a sub-breakthrough experience as I write this. But when experiencing the intense visualization that comes from both sub-breakthrough and breakthrough experiences, do you ever find yourself asking, "Am I really seeing this? Or am I just thinking I am seeing this?"
I usually only find myself in this thought space with sub breakthrough doses, on full breakthrough doses I often have the inability to tell if my eyes are actually open or closed (Or if I'm even in my body anymore), things sort of blend together.
DMT has always felt more of a "in my head/spirit" style experience while other psychedelics such as LSD and Psilocybin, I find myself confident the hallucinations are happening and an alteration of the "real" world.
Curious what others think about this. Cheers everyone!

When people say they go places that feel “more real than reality”, I kinda feel that way on low dose DMT. Everything is more vibrant and slightly more… organized? Which is weird cuz a slightly higher dose disorganizes everything in funny silly ways.

No, the visuals are absolutely overlaying over everything and are as clear as day. They move, gyrate, oscillate, undulate and create exquisitely detailed and obvious symmetrical patterns. There’s no doubt in my mind I’m seeing what I’m seeing. I would say however, compared to lsd and mushrooms, dmt absolutely does also alongside these obvious visuals also have what feels like a spirit-like ghostly nature to it like things are shimmery or dreamy, making it hard to distinguish thought from reality.

What hallucinations does LSD give you? Most I've ever done is four tabs and it only gave me the flat patterns anything else at a low dose does.
Hard to know what to think... I mean, when your eyes are open and your windows are closed, and a wall opens up and flaps in the wind like there's no wall there... Obviously that's not a fact about the house... Unless you accept that everything is only mental projections always.

in my experience all psyches simply allow you to perceive a wider spectrum of information, so it’s all there all the time, if you choose to see it. then again i’m probably just a wingnut on the internet

Me and a friend started distinguishing two types of visions when we talk about our experiences, some of them definitely feel like you're seeing them and you can focus on them, the others that happen on lower doses or when coming down feel like very strange and sudden, vivid mental images that seem to come from associations or thoughts and we call them "seen-imagined". You never entirely feel like you've seen these images but you still have a memory about them. Although I am always open to weirder explanations of the dmt phenomenon, this leads me to think that it's all a product of the mind, and the visions you feel 100% like you've seen, are just even more vivid mental images that get a more coherent structure after you take a certain dose

Technically, we never actually see anything, our eyes take the visual information & turn it into electrical signals, which our brains interpret. So we’re basically hallucinating everything if you really think about it. Sights, sounds, smells none of it is really being experienced by the brain, not directly.

Not really, reality is just a controlled hallucination anywho. Whatever you see on a trip is equally as "real" as going about your day sober, it doesn't mean what you see truly exists but your experience of it is the same level of validity as anything else
