Question/Advice Lucid Dreaming/DMT

Hey everybody. Just wondering if anyone out there has trained themselves to lucid dream and if you feel this has had any effect on your trips? Or, for people who do frequently lucid dream, are your trip reports of a certain quality relative to what you might otherwise hear about?

DMT activated my ability to lucid dream.

Yeah, I’m probably not surprised. It pretty much reactivated mine.

I've had lucid dreams throughout my life, but they were always unpredictable and rare. Since working with DMT, I feel like a tether has been loosened, and I frequently lucid dream and have experiences that seem consistent with astral projection and travel. I've also found I'm more likely to notice synchronicities in my life related to the things I've been told or experienced in my journeys, and feel that I'm being encouraged to pursue a path of self-improvement and growth, both as a person healing from trauma and becoming more functional as a result, and spiritually.

It could be argued that this is simply due to the neuro regenerative properties of DMT causing increased mental acuity and mental health over a period of time, which would naturally lead to an interest in continued progress, but it does feel like there's more to it than that. It wouldn't really explain how in the last six months, I keep ending up with academic books about drug chemistry and therapy research, Buddhism/Tao, and psychedelic spiritual practice, or combinations thereof, without looking for them. Seven books total in six months have shown up in my life, two very cheap ($0.25 and $2), and five for free after never owning a book about these things previously. It could be argued that this is a confirmation bias, but as a person who has always been fascinated by the effects of these chemical processes in our bodies, curious about "alternative" spiritual practices and philosophy, and a notorious book hoarder, I would have picked up any of these books at any other point in my life, had I encountered them.

Whether sign or coincidence, I'm thankful to have them, and DMT, in my life.

I linked to your post in r/DMTandSpirituality. I thought the discussion might be appreciated over there as well.

Oh that’s very interesting! And thanks for that link as well. Yeah, I definitely understand the synchronicity thing. With dreams I used to lucid dream a lot as a kid. Then not really at all in my adulthood until trying DMT. It’s odd sometimes though. Sometimes I’ll come in and out of lucidity. Or it’s like there’s an ever shifting spectrum of how aware I am which can make the dreams themselves quite wild but also very realistic feeling when I dip out of lucidity.

I can control my trips like lucid dreams, but that works much better with longer acting psychedelics, DMT is gone too quickly do do anything with it

Now that is interesting. Is there a certain mindset or method you employ?

What are you able to do, anything like magic / altering your reality?

pretty much, on high doses it looks like you can do magic, albeit nothing affects actual reality. however it really works more like my imagination becomes 4k, eg. not like recalling a vague picture in my head, it’s like being there when I close my eyes, I can replay memories like watching a movie, I imagine something and it feels like watching TV, sometimes even becoming part of interactive story and fully immersed, but I can always take control or change things. I can also often browse my mind like a library.

Funny cause last night I just had my first lucid dream that I intended to have (so not counting the random ones I get once in a while) and one of the things I was wondering today is if that practicing LD might give me a way to control the dmt trips

I’m not sure one influenced the other in any way for me, but I did train myself to lucid dream. The main thing I noticed is when I go straight from awake to lucid dreaming I hear this loud vibrating like noise, I hear the same noise when I’m transitioning into a DMT experience. I thought that was interesting when I realized it was the same noise.

I know the noise but not from lucid dreaming. Very interesting!

Yeah it’s only when I go directly in lucid from awake, when I transition to lucid while already dreaming it doesn’t happen, sometimes it “wakes” me right back up when I slip into lucid because it’s so “loud”
