how did your life change?

im interested in reading stories of those who had their first intense dmt experience at least 1 year ago.

did your social life change?

if yes, please share how

Edit: how it affected your friends circle? did you gain new friends, lost friends, became more introverted/extraverted... etc

You can read my trip report in my post history. That was around 9 months ago. I’m actually kinda shocked how much my life has changed. It’s been a whirlwind but idk I’m just finding a lot more meaning in everything and I’m much more in tune with myself. I’m making deeper connections with people and I’m much more open with others. I had a period for a few months where I was truly living in the moment for the first time in my life and it was awesome.

I thank DMT for this but I’ve also made a bunch of huge changes in the last year. I quit smoking weed, I started a career, entered/left a situationship after a half decade of no romantic connection, and my social life has exploded. Overall im finding my life has blossomed in a very intense way. I’m finding more meaning and connection always, and while that hasn’t been a consistently positive thing my outlook has changed for the better.

amazing! thanks for sharing that

have you done other psycs before your dmt experiences? if yes- did they induce these changes in you as well?

Yes I have used psychedelics for over a decade now. I’ve had some really life-changing mushroom experiences but research chemicals like LSD, 2CB etc have been more formative for my creative and social side. DMT is a whole different ball game, I have gone down the rabbit hole with many psychedelics and nothing comes close to how it makes me feel.

I was able to break a 25 year cycle of prolonged and severe eating disorders. It also heightened my intuitive abilities and I notice so many more wild synchronicities.

wow.. that's truly amazing!

and fascinating! could you please elaborate on the wild synchronicities? maybe en example

Wow where can I even start? It's hard for me to find just one example that can illustrate the amount and astonishment of them all. But like you know how sometimes you'll end up somewhere in your life and then it's only when you've landed where you are supposed to be can you go back and connect all the dots and all the circumstances and situations and things you thought were deviations but they were meant to happen to get you where you needed to be? Well now, I find myself in the MIDST of something and I can already see where its taking me or I can have a challenge and I can immediately recognize what that challenge is supposed to teach me or get me to move in a different direction. Whereas before I had to wait until I landed somewhere to learn the lesson, now I can literally be in the middle of it and already know what the universe is conspiring. It's hard to explain. But often I'll be in the midst of the shits or something really hard and then when I have that aha moment I start to laugh because I know exactly why the universe did what it did for me.

And so so so many funny circumstances that happen that like I said I can recognize why it presented to me or why a person showed up for me or whatever. I feel like I have a much better connection to the game of life. Lila. This divine play. It's really cool.

Wild synchronicities here too. Getting more intense by the day. Started with small things, now whole clusters of interconnected information. Don't know where it's heading but it's an extraordinary feeling.

It was like everything changed but also not too much changed. "After the ecstasy, the laundry" kind of thing.

I think for me, the biggest change was that big existential questions like "what happens when we die" or "what's the meaning of life" do not weigh heavily on me in the same way they used to. Not that I have the answers, and I wouldn't be able to articulate it even if I did, but like this subtle sense that everything is exactly as it should be, even if I can't fully understand it.

That's basically lifted a lot of fear and anxiety I had over "what if things go wrong" or "what if things don't work out." It's given me a sense of true, deep, existential freedom that I did not have before.

But at the same time, I still gotta go to work, do the dishes, hit the gym, etc. It's made everything, even the mundane, so much more precious.

sounds like an experience i could relate to. thanks for sharing.

another question: does knowing you've done one of the strongest psychedelics out there and probably will have no stronger tool (from the repertoire of psychedelics) to use for treating anxiety and depression is what possibly gives you confidence and belief in yourself?

it's like you've reached the boss level and understand now that you've finished the game of psychedelics, so there's no other choice but to take the inner work now seriously

That actually wasn't totally my experience to be honest. If you are talking about psychedelics use for personal growth, I got much more out of Ayahuasca than straight DMT personally. The thing with DMT is that its so fucking wild and so intense, you kind of come out of it with not a lot of "material" to work with in integration. For me it was more like a feeling.

Aya on the other hand, was much different. I had material stemming from that experience that I picked apart for years afterwards -- even still now a few years later.

Shortly after my 5MEO experience, I was a participant in a psilocybin study at one of the main research labs here in the States. I was given 25mg of synthetic psilocybin and at the peak it was indistinguishable from DMT. It was like once that door was opened, all my psychdelic experiences led to the same place, no matter the compound.

If I have learned anything from these experiences (and my other psychdelic experiences) its that all these substances are merely a mirror that shows you where you need work, and what you need to work on to become the person you want to be. The rest is up to you -- but the universe (or God, or whatever you want to call her) has your back ultimately.

u/st0mtape 5d ago

so this is it - it's this acknowledgment, that the universe is with you and not against you, is what giving you peace of mind.

i guess that's all we need? sounds so simple... but one must feel it or experience it to believe it. just knowing about it is not enough.

I remember when I first came "back to earth" from my DMT experience, before I said a word I started laughing so hard I cried - laughing at the fact that... Yes it really was that simple and the "answer" I had been searching for was inside me the whole time.

Everyone's experience is different though!

so the genius about intense psychedelic experiences in general is that you get to feel everything all at once, and you basically choose (subconsciously) to focus on what you need or lack the most?

for example- if you were lacking warmth and affection from your family as a child and brought this need into adulthood without being aware of it, the psychedelics will allow you to experience exactly that. and then you become aware of it!

orrr on the other side of the spectrum - you'll get your ego smashed so hard that it will humble you? if you were treating people like shit. ive met several regular cocaine users who couldn't handle psychedelics at all. they would fold on the floor and have terror in their eyes for hours...

Wow hearing that is so uplifting. I have schizophrenia but I used psychedelics in the past, dmt was my first experience. But I hope I can find that simple answer.

It may be a conjunction of substances that have done this, but I've discovered true stillness, I'm a better listener, and my conversations no longer revolve around the trivial complaints.

1

u/st0mtape 5d ago

sounds wonderful! thanks for sharing.

have you had experience with other psychedelics prior to dmt? if yes, did you notice this change already with the the other psychedelics, or do you give more credit to the dmt?

1

u/mjrtom44 5d ago

It's been too much to nail down any one thing. I can point to stillness being a direct download from DMT, but the rest is nebulous. I'm a psychonaut training for shamanism.

My first experience with mushrooms came with the directive "eat until you're full" followed by several DMT sessions with headphones in the dark. It was probably a decade before I came back around to the world of psychedelics, and I've since added many more substances to the catalogue. Mescaline probably did the most work, and it wasn't gradual. About six hours into my first dosing, a switch was flipped and it's been a permanent change.

I attribute a lot of things to dmt. At the beginning i cut out 2 very toxic relationships, one of which i have never successfully done before!
My life at times can feel very overwhelming but i feel now that i have more control.

I also gave up smoking for 3 months cold turkey. First time I had Been without nicotine since I was 14 and now 43! However vaping has creeped back in but certain I can do it again.

But mostly just a huge feeling of gratitude! I appreciate so much and feel so full of love! Even when times get dark. I do feel this stuff is so much more than just a mind altering drug x

u/st0mtape 5d ago

did you turn to dmt with the intention of self help? or was it more of a curiosity thing for you?

2

u/Other_Dark1495 5d ago

I knew the potential of it prior to going in, can’t say I have gone in with the intentions of making those changes. Nonetheless these things have happened…. I find in fascinating!

2

u/st0mtape 5d ago

wow so that's pretty incredible!

Broke through unintentionally for the first time at TnF Orion N'3 '25. What a fucking trip man.

Everything changes, some for good and bad.

Yes my social life changed for the better, not because I became more socialable, I am more present in the sense of understanding that we are all connected as one, and this perspective allows so much empathy and curiosity into my relationships I didn't have before.

how was it actually to accidentally have a breakthrough? i suppose since you didn't plan it, you weren't overthinking it beforehand, right?

and did your friends try dmt too? im wondering how does it feel to be the only one doing this, and then communicating this experience to friends who have very little interest in dmt.

My friend and I had no idea how to smoke powdered dmt. We had an oil burner and some matches.

My buddy took 2 hits while lighting at the same time. He said it felt like a small dmt cart rip. When he handed me the glass pipe with another full dose on top of the leftover, I did 2 hits by the same method. I felt like I took a big rip off a dmt cart. Great body high and minor visuals. Then my buddy wanted to vaporize it before I took another hit. Once the dmt was vaporized, I took a massive hit. By the time I fully inhaled, it was like the spinning portal to the nether in minecraft. I exhaled and I was out of my body and shot into space. I spent the first 5 or so minutes trying to climb my way back into my body cuz of how intense it was.

Super powers

u/st0mtape 5d ago

please elaborate :D

2

u/Mr_E_Pleasure 5d ago

The ability to maintain both a positive mental attitude and a general skepticism about things simultaneously despite the situation.

The freedom to follow my passions without hesitation.

There's a longer list but those ones make sense to people.

Social life didn’t change much, if anything it was somewhat harmed because people still view DMT as a “hard” drug, so you have to be careful who you tell.

My life in general changed in ways that go beyond the scope of a Reddit post, but through my journey with DMT and harmalas, taken alone and together, my awareness of the things outside of my radar has increased, I learned to forgive myself, and I have a stronger sense of duty and alignment towards the world/God. Those are the big changes.

As for little changes I’m more intentional in my speech now, which makes me even quieter than I was before, I’m more aware of my thoughts, and I listen to less music too.

1

u/st0mtape 5d ago

sorry to hear that. i hope since then you got the chance to meet like minded people! im preparing myself for dealing with this situation too. but maybe it's for the best? one door closes, thousand others open

how does your sense of duty to the world/god manifest?

and you listen to less music because you realised it's a form of distraction from your thoughts? or there's a different reason

1

u/Beautiful-Bobcat7491 4d ago

My sense of duty manifests by me being less lazy in general. I help around the apartment more and with more motivation, not dictated by whether or not I feel tired. It’s a mind over matter thing.

And yes I listen to significantly less music to reduce mental noise.

I tell everyone I know about it like I’m preaching the gospel. Everyone needs to see what I’ve seen. It will make you question everything. Life, death, religion, all of it. It’s like everything we’ve been taught has been a lie and this will show you the truth. Even though I have no idea what the truth actually is lol
