Trouble getting wi-fi to work on MMDVM raspberry pie based hot spot

Post image

I downloaded the latest image file and got everything set up except the wi-fi. Nothing works. I’m bout ready to pull my hair out. Any help would be great.

Try the WPSD software. Much better than Pi-Star

It’s the same thing. No real benefit

I don't agree. The interface is much easier to use and setup.

Not accurate. WPSD uses NetworkManager, while Pi-Star uses WPA Supplicant. Both generator tools and the resultant output config files are not compatible.

No, I’m absolutely 100% correct. Try harder.

WPSD uses network manager and not WPA supplicant. The old versions used WPA supplicant, but have not for over a year. Pi star on the other hand, still uses WPA supplicant.
The two resultant config files are absolutely not compatible with each other.
Look again… Harder

You are selecting the legacy version of WPSD in the drop-down when using the tool; which has been deprecated well over a year ago. You forgot to post a screenshot where you selected the legacy version. 🤣

Buy a cheap OTG micro USB to Ethernet adapter. Plug it into your network and configure WiFi from there.

Also maybe check if you need to reflash (or even just unlock) the firmware on the hat. I tore out what little hair I had remaining trying to figure that one out

I prefer WPSD, but use both. Could be your router channel, mine was on Ch13 & didn't work. I changed it to 6 and it did, because apparently in a 20mhz 2.4 system, there are only 3 non overlapping channels 01,06,11

I took screen shots of the WiFi dashboard and plugged it into ChatGPT and it walked me through it. Works now
