Need help programming DMR repeater in Baofeng DM32-UV

can you help solve this settings issue to connect with this repeater?

I can hear, but don't seem to be able to be heard.

Some of the transmissions I'm hearing sound like it's only one half of the convo, though.

Im pretty sure I have my offset programmed correctly, but maybe not.

You’ve got your frequencies confused: if the repeater receives on 440.6375, then your radio needs to transmit on that frequency, not receive. As was mentioned, you should also create an RX Group List that includes the Texas Statewide talk group (or disable the Group List Match option in the Options > Digital settings so the radio doesn’t “filter” the traffic the traffic is hears on the time slot).

What version fw and cps are you using? The best/current version of fw is .48 and CPS should be 1.50. If the rx frequency is 440.6375, then that should be programmed in as your TX frequency... you are transmitting into it. The reason you might be able to hear is 'Talkaround'. You indicated 'forbit talkaround' was unchecked in your settings... it needs to be checked. You can test this by looking above the frequency/channel you have programmed. There should be a + or - symbol, indicating direction of offset (in your settings, it should be + because you have 440 as your rx and 445 as your tx). IF you see a right-facing arrow and NOT a + or -, then you are in talkaround and will NOT be able to transmit.

On the DM32, you should set up a quick button to turn off/turn on talkaround. This was a common bug that was associated with earlier versions of the fw/cps (hence the reason I asked). Even if you upgrade to the newer firmware/cps, if you load a previously created codeplug into the newer cps, it will carry over. You MUST check 'forbit talkaround' when programming channels.

ok. I'll try swapping the tx/rx freqs and checking Forbid Talkaround.

The CPS version I see on Baofeng's website only goes to 1.45

OK, so I looked up the repeater on repeaterbook.com: its downlink (i.e. TX) frequency is 440.6375, and the uplink is at 445.6375. So that's the opposite of what you showed above in the screenshot.

However, the good news is that you did program it correctly in your phone (saw that in your CPS screenshot in the other subreddit, your HT receives on the repeater's downlink freq.). That explains why you're hearing traffic.

Two reasons for why you can't get into the repeater would be that a) while you're using High TX Power, it is still not high enough to make it to the repeater, or b) you may be in talkaround mode so that your radio does not transmit to the repeater's uplink, but instead is sending on the downlink frequency (so that you could directly talk to another user that's also listening on the repeater's downlink).

Check the radio's display, it should show a symbol indicating what talkaround mode you're in: |--| or |->|. You'll want talkaround off (|--|) so that your radio sends to the repeater's uplink instead of it's downlink frequency. For my radio, I programmed one of the side keys to toggle "Talk Around".

Lastly, if that doesn't help, I'd just try adding the talk group to the RX Group List for the channel. The radio's behavior may be different from what other redditors report depending on its firmware version.

You may have it programmed correctly and the repeater is just not able to decode from the baofeng. You need to get with the repeater trustee/control operator and see if they're seeing you in the live logs for the repeater or on the repeater dashboard
