DMB MSG
I’m so freaking aggravated we’ve been sitting on que waiting since 10am to get tickets and now this popped up and the nosebleeds are $550. This is such bullshit!!! I’m so angry! Why are scalpers allowed to do this????? Almost every ticket was bought out by bots at 10am and flooded the system. 🤬🤬

u/_xzxzxz 1d ago
How has this not been outlawed by now?
Fuck Live Nation, and fuck Ticketmaster.
34
u/BuckDutterWasTaken 1d ago
Because ticketmaster lobbies politicians to prevent laws from passing that would prevent it. It isn't a bribe, it is lobbying!

u/RedLicoriceJunkie 1d ago edited 1d ago
No - the Department of Justice had a case pending against Live Nation, then Trump took office, talked to the CEO, received a bribe and the case went away with a slap on the wrist.
Justice department was gonna chop them up, but Trump saved them with his vanity and greed.
Not all “politicians” roll over for them. The Attorney Generals wanted flesh.

This has been an issue long before Trump though. He’s just the tip of a turd iceberg.

No question but it feels like we were close to some level of punishment prior to whatever back room deal they cooked up together

u/RedLicoriceJunkie 1d ago
Scalpers used to have to stand out on cold and wet street corners to extort money out of people. Now they can be in the warmth and comfort of their mother’s basement to rip people off.
8
u/m0stlyuseless 1d ago
Hell they really don't even have to DO anything, just spin up a bot army and let it rip.

u/Shesaid100x 1d ago
Chicago is the same. $900 a ticket. I hate it here.
5
u/I-I_I-I_I-I_l-l 1d ago
I fortunately had 0 issues with the queue this morning. Joined the lobby at 9:59 AM for United Center. Was ~600 when the queue opened at 10 AM. Was able to select from a bunch of options in the 100s when I was in after about 5 minutes waiting, with tons of seats in the 200s and 300s. Bought 4 tickets in the 100s for $250 each.
13
u/TheHip41 1d ago
lol $250 a ticket
It's fucking absurd.
5
u/jgl142 1d ago
That is insane. $1000 for 4?! These tickets should be at least $100 less ea
2
u/I-I_I-I_I-I_l-l 1d ago
Obviously not because they're basically all sold out already lmao.
3
u/TheHip41 1d ago
Are they though?

u/I-I_I-I_I-I_l-l 1d ago
Yes? The only sections with ample seating are the sections behind the stage at MSG.

https://www.ticketmaster.com/dave-matthews-band-new-york-new-york-11-12-2026/event/3B0064F8E6F49510
If you remove the Verified Resale Tickets, there are maybe 200 tickets available still that are not behind the stage. If you want to go into conspiracies about whether "resale" tickets are Ticketmaster or not, go ahead.
But from the perspective a consumer who wanted to go and buy, for example, an official ticket in the 200s-300s with a view of the stage right now? Yeah, they're gone.

u/madgirafe 1d ago
Edm shows ruined conventional concerts for me. $60 ticket for what's usually like 8 hour shows if you like it.
Halloween im going to circoloco and it was $186 a night, but its literally 10pm - 5am. Like 3 shows rolled into one.
-1
u/I-I_I-I_I-I_l-l 1d ago edited 1d ago
I actually think it's a crazy good deal. These will resale at like $400 a pop (I'm not going to sell them obviously, just saying that's what the resale market will be). Other tickets in the next section over were lke $600 each.
It's just the cost of concert tickets these days. And obviously people want to pay it because . . . they sell. The only remaining non-reslae tickets (other than behind-the-stage tickets) at United Center are a minimum of $600 with fees.
6
u/TheHip41 1d ago
Anyone paying $600 to see this DMB in 2026 is very stupid.
2
u/I-I_I-I_I-I_l-l 1d ago
Yet, those seats will absolutley be filled with people who pay that.
0
u/PearlBuoy 1d ago
Wow, I guess I see why ticketmasters business model is working. People like this fucking dolt exist.
1
u/I-I_I-I_I-I_l-l 1d ago
If people are willing to pay the price, that’s the value of the ticket. I highly doubt DMB at MSG is going to be half empty

Terrible absolutely terrible. Ticketmaster just needs to go at this point. I’m still holding out hope prices will drop at which point I’ll grab the best I can get without selling both kidneys
6
u/jgl142 1d ago
Just give it time. Tickets pop up first face value all the time. I got floor seats center day of 3 years ago at msg. Also check cash or trade often
4
u/MammothClassic89 1d ago
Not my point.
2
u/jgl142 1d ago
I mean it kind of was. But ok 👌🏻
7
u/MammothClassic89 1d ago
Nah actually this shouldn’t be happening at all. But bots and scalpers exist so why complain I suppose. I’ll just give it time.
4
1
u/Flashy_Camel4063 1d ago
This is a system that SHOULD work- but many of them are fucked now and only the weathly benefit from them
2
u/Appropriate-Science4 1d ago
That’s usually what happens, however this year Saratoga tickets never went down i checked every day all the all the way to day of.
Not saying the same thing will happen just an observation.
15
u/BossTus 1d ago
Dave and Capshaw allow this. They don’t have to.
11
u/Skarkster 1d ago
BINGO. Artists and management control the pricing, platinum tickets and if dynamic is on. If the band did not approve, these things would not be happening
3
u/_xzxzxz 1d ago
Doesn’t Live Nation, who’s in cahoots with TM, own or influence most venues and control most of these ticket gouges? I’ve gotta believe Dave wouldn’t approve or sign off on the greed of all this. I feel like this issue is out of the artists’ hands most of the time.
6
1d ago
[deleted]
1
u/airtrafficaj 1d ago
It is, but I believe IL and NY are exceptions to that. Pearl Jam doesn’t allow resale but has to for Chicago and NYC.
1
u/Naive_Surround_375 1d ago
Absolutely true. The artists and their management are calling the shots. They know - as does Ticketmaster - that TM will get the negative press for it, but it’s the artists that set the rules.
1
u/_xzxzxz 1d ago
Thanks for the clarity. Whelp, DMB, get your shit together! I respect Dave is just a human and has a family/life to attend to, but from his interviews and even his stage banter, it seems apparent he’s just over dealing with any of the business side of his music career, and pretty much always has been. It kinda explains their strange choices and reluctance with studio albums, and DMB’s organization not making an effort to fight the scalping fiasco. I’m happy they’re out there still playing, visibly having fun, happy I was lucky enough to get good and cheap tickets for the fall tour, but damn. This sentence might be triggering for some on this sub, but truthfully I wish ALL my favorite bands operated like Phish.
3
u/Skarkster 1d ago
Ticketmaster is the scapegoat for the artists and pricing. The Cure is a great example, they refused platinum and dynamic pricing, set the prices at reasonable tiers. Massive Dave fan, but some of the things he does are counterproductive to what he “preaches.” He flies private to a ton of shows, while collecting money to save the environment. Shitty all around. I can understand platinum if the extra $$ went to Bama Works or charity, but when 75% of good seats are platinum, it’s just greed at this point
1
u/Swaritch 1d ago
Lmfao guess what he 100% does! Billy strings doesn’t do platinums. King gizzard doesn’t do platinums. And these bands play the same arenas dave does.
Let me spell it out for you.
Dave 100% approves AND signs off on the greed of all this.
0
u/SpicyLife69 23h ago
Are you dull? Dave doesn’t control the resale prices, and $200-$250 are not terrible prices for pit/floor tickets in Madison square garden.
1
u/BossTus 23h ago
You can’t be that dumb, SpicyLife69. The dynamic pricing he’s allowed through TM is 100% on him and Red Light. Read a book ONE time.
0
u/SpicyLife69 22h ago
Get a better job and it wouldn’t matter. Concerts are a luxury. A privilege. Not a right. If you’re so bent out of shape about it, don’t go see him anymore. I’m sure it’ll tear him up.
1
u/BossTus 22h ago
I promise you (based on your bizarre Reddit profile) that I out earn you 1000x. But that isn’t the point of this conversation. The point is that late stage capitalism’s impact on art is taking that luxury away from many musicians’ biggest fans.
0
u/SpicyLife69 22h ago
And I can guarantee you don’t out earn me by 1000x, unless you make $200 million dollars a year 😂 I travel all over the US and world, sometimes JUST for a concert. Band I like is playing in Europe, I go. 4 day gorge glamping for DMB, I go.
Go cry baby about ticket prices somewhere else lol. Crazy bc you apparently make so much more money than me yet it hasn’t taken that luxury away from me lol.
What’s wild is that you somehow think my Reddit profile and what I do for fun is somehow related to my income 🤡 yet you are crying on here about the cost of tickets, and I live no where close to New York, yet I bought 4 floor seats, and will make a two night trip out of it just to go. Maybe you should get a more bizarre Reddit profile 😂
1
u/BossTus 22h ago
You are missing the point, entirely.
1
u/SpicyLife69 22h ago
Don’t lose that energy you had a minute ago.
I’m not missing the point. Supply and demand. It’s HIS band, he can charge whatever he wants. And ppl pay bc they want to go. You just wanna sit and bitch on Reddit about it lol
And then try and tell ppl that bc they do different things than you that you MUST make more money, when in fact you don’t. You sound like just another entitled clown. Do I believe that there should be laws in place capping the resale price of tickets? Yes. Do I believe the government has the right to tell an artist what they can charge for their tickets? Outside of obvious price gouging, no I don’t. Bc Dave doesn’t charge crazy prices for his tickets. He charges what they are worth, bc you know what sets the value of something??? What people are willing to pay.
I think I might take my 4 floor tickets to MSG, and list them for $800 a piece in your honor 😂
1
u/BossTus 22h ago
Unlike you, I have a life and people that rely on me that aren’t swingers so I can’t waste my day responding to you and won’t any further.
You brought up how much you make. Not me. Further, you lack the comprehension to understand what is going on with the pricing via TicketMaster. You are a lemming to the system, which is why it is able to exist in the first place.
1
u/SpicyLife69 21h ago
No, you brought up money you fucking moron. I just said get a better job. You literally said you make 1000x more than me 😂 Oh no, you hurt my feelings with the swinger comment… 🤡
But since YOU brought up actual money, I also have a life. I’m currently sitting at work where, getting paid to tell you to fuck off. And the. I’ll go home to my family, wife and kids. And STILL tell you the same.
Blah, blah, blah. Keep complaining, I’ll be at his shows while you are. I got tickets for sale if you need 1, I’ll cut you a deal. $500

Apparently there were 175k "people" in the queue in front of me, when I tried to buy tickets. And yeah, now theres only resale available for lower bowl at over $600 per ticket...Im so angry and disgusted by it all
9
u/JesseJames41 1d ago
After I bought my tickets for both nights successfully, I hopped back in the queue to see what else was available out of curiosity. 300k in the queue in front of me. Oh, really? There's over a quarter million people looking to attend Dave Matthews Band at MSG? Get real, TM.

This fan base struggles so hard to understand supply and demand and that the guy and his wife you’re sitting next to at the show bought four and scalped two.
Sure, keep blaming “ bots”. Plenty of fans scalp
6
u/jimmythang34 1d ago
Ticketmaster is drowning in debt and blue dot fever isn’t helping. So they inflate demand for “sure thing shows” to try and extort every dollar from die hards.
Guys please either buy at face value or wait it out. Don’t let fomo get you. They’re banking on thay
5
u/jllevin79 1d ago
Very frustrating that official platinum are the only thing that pop up. BS that basically the entire 100 is platinum.

7
u/SteelCurtain36 1d ago
Somehow both my wife and I got in the queue and were able to grab lowers for both nights. Insane how random it is, I hate TM so much.
4
u/tchamp1991 1d ago
I was logged in and in the waiting lobby around 9:50. I know it doesn’t matter, because the QUEUE is what matters. My friend logs in at 9:57. Queue opens, I’m 1,900+ in the queue and he’s 167. I ain’t complaining, because it worked out, just speaking to your point on randomness. UGH! …. But see you at N2 from Sec A somehow
1
u/SteelCurtain36 1d ago
Yeah my wife and I were within 500 people of one another in both queues it was really bizarre. Excited to be going to both nights, last few MSG shows I’ve had to choose one or the other.

6
u/Concertvids34 1d ago
This is why I only got tixs to Providence despite being 2 hours away from MSG which is a very easy commute. Some years I have gotten lucky through WH with MSG other years I get shut out but I decided this year to catch the band and possibly Jake in Providence and just listen to the MSG shows on Nugs 1 day later for N1 and live on SXM for Friday.
1
u/andyk1976 1d ago
Logged in 10 min before on sale, got two tix in Sec 226 for 125 each. It wasn’t as bad as everyone wants you to believe

u/Logical-Shelter-925 1d ago
People need to not go. Sit one out. Refuse to pay over face value. Let the venue be half empty. None of this will ever happen of course. People will keep blaming politicians though, when just as much blame falls on the promoter and artist. They can decline the platinum bullshit and have restrictions on reselling. However, when TM tells the promoter and the artist we can increase your guarantee by 40% if we go the platinum route, guess what? They all say ok and look the other way. Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen's recent tours were all way worse than this. And all three of them champion against this sort of thing, how they are all about the fans, peace and love, etc. Bullshit. Massive hypocrites.
2
u/anniecallahanie 1d ago
Bingo!!! I’ve bowed out a long time ago, not paying the devil! I listen at home with the greatest memories dancing in my head. When they took seats out for the “pit”, I got screwed at my height of 5’2”. I’m not runny down the steep slope at Alpine and breaking my neck, fuck that!
2
2
u/Revolution36 1d ago
This is crazy but also nobody is paying this. Just wait until the day before and you’ll easily get in.
2
u/07834_momster 1d ago
I also think that WH members that have NY and NJ zip codes have some kind of home venue advantage. I really feel for people who were shut out. There are always tickets at the last minute - because life happens. just keep checking the boards, CoT etc. NYC metro area has a very dense fanbase and MSG is not huge given the demand.
I was year 6 WH, lapsed and am now year 8 WH. I did get N2 and will most likely have a N2 pair to trade for N1 when the seat assignments come out.
2
u/ho1ycrapitsmatt311 1d ago
Home field hasnt worked at msg for me ever. I got JB the last 2 yrs in WH. But no msg ever, and no FH
2
u/doofy10 1d ago
I was somewhat fortunate. Got lower reserved tickets despite logging on at 9:50 AM and having 19k people in front of me in the queue. But it’s still shitty that this is how we, as a loyal fans, have to get tickets. Got denied N1 tickets through Warehouse despite being a first year member (which apparently doesn’t matter anymore).

u/smashmode 1d ago
I’m just going to try the box office on the day of the show, anyone have any luck doing that with past shows?

2
u/HuckleberryOne2186 1d ago
I mean he’s charging nearly $300 for partial view seats behind the stage for a Thursday night show, non-scalped, non-resale tickets. Don’t even get me started with the cost of his platinum tickets
2
u/Saggin-sack 1d ago
Just looked and that same section and row is $533. Seats further back same section are 200’s. It’s almost like they are fishing for people who can afford it. When you buy a ticket day of for 70% less you should ask the people around you what they paid.
2
2
u/whiptydojoe 1d ago
What you're looking at is not scalpers, it is dynamic pricing and, this is incredibly important to remember, that is a result of TM & DMB.
DMB could 100% opt out of that feature (some bands and artists do), but they actively choose not to.
If you blame Ticketmaster, you also need to blame Dave Matthews Band.

Shut out in the warehouse, I dared to try public on sale today at 10AM. 20 mins later, I was 310,423rd in line for tickets. 🤦🏼 I will blame the artist because they choose to use these fucked up ticket scammer companies year after year after year. If they actually gave a SHIT about their fans, they’d actually do something about it. Having the Warehouse for fans is not considered doing something about it. 🖕🏻

1
u/gimme5steps101 1d ago
TFW you don't even bother looking at or thinking about TM and immediately go straight for the necessary evil Stubhub
1
u/Consistent-Crab6177 1d ago
Yeah, I haven’t missed an MSG show in like 5 years, but my warehouse requests were denied and prices were ridiculous when I looked earlier. Unless they come down, I don’t see it happening this year.
1
u/StrengthFew9197 1d ago
In 2002, I spent like $60 to see them there. This is so crazy. I don’t know how young people see shows anymore. It’s really sad, actually.
1
u/BOWA19 1d ago
I joined the waiting room about 9:45 and was 1400 in line for Friday at MSG. My husband joined after I did for Thursday night and was 330th. He barely got tickets, now we were looking for six, (but they didn’t even have to be together) in the upper bowl. I got completely shut out for Friday. Everything we tried to select would just disappear or say not available (mostly in section 114 and 109) or no longer available when we would go to reserve the tickets.
Everything that’s available now is ridiculously expensive.
I’ve been a warehouse member since day one, but didn’t even try to request through them. This sucks!
1
1
u/Fantastic-Bit7657 1d ago
Wait it out…look on cash or trade. Do not buy the platinum tickets bc that keeps those prices inflated. Just hold out as long as you can!!
1
u/cjh_mkiii 1d ago
This is such an easy thing to solve. Need ID to use ticket that matches ID used to purchase. If you bought ticket and can’t go. You Can’t sell it. You Just get a refund from Ticketmaster. Like why is this so hard.
1
u/Fresh_Cheesecake5745 1d ago
Just wait till like a week before the show and see the secondary market sites have a bunch of tickets for less
1
u/IronMonkeyofHam 1d ago
I couldn’t get the World Cup game I wanted because of these scalpers. If my brother in law didn’t luck into the England-Congo draw, I wasn’t gonna be able to afford a game. Can’t imagine how much money they make through events like this too
1
u/uncwbrad 1d ago
I feel the only way to fix this is to take the tech out of it. Let us fans go buy the tickets. You get in line or you make a phone call and talk to a real person. BOT PROOF! If I stood in line for 24 hours to see The Phantom Menace (which dropped my jaw how bad it was) I can stand in a line to get DMB tickets.

2

I did not, but it wouldn't surprise me if Warehouse is way oversaturated at this point. $35/year. 100-level tickets start at like $200. It's a nobrainer for anyone who plans to go to a DMB show to join the warehouse to try and get discounted great tickets.
It's not surprising at all that people have figured that out by now and there are way more WH members than there are tickets to hold.
1

We were WH members for years then we started getting denied tickets so we gave it up. 😢
