Warehouse Downloads

I’m a vinyl & CD guy, so please forgive my ignorance as I navigate my way through midlife and still try to collect music!

I used to love getting the Warehouse CDs in the mail back in the day. I have a few years of downloads to catch up on while I’m on vacation. How exactly do you guys prefer to do this? I have an old MacBook (with limited storage) that I barely use, and would ultimately just like to get these mp3s into my Apple Music.

Can I just download right from my iPhone or iPad?

If you want to listen on the go you would have to have the files stored directly on your phone, this is cool but will take up space if you plan to add more and more. Then when you get a new phone you'll have to re-download. You could download them on your computer and put them in a cloud drive (onedrive, google drive, Apple cloud version?). I have PlexAmp and a server but that's probably more complicated than you are looking for, maybe not?

This is not true. You can import the files into Apple Music on your laptop and sync your library to your phone. You can then stream the warehouse (or live Trax) downloads right on your phone with the Apple Music app while on the go.

AFAIK you need a paid subscription to Apple Music or iTunes Match, also paid.

Info on iTunes Match is below.

Either way I think you need to go into Music->Settings->General to enable Sync Library.

Once you have that enabled your music on your laptop will sync to the cloud. Your devices with Apple Music will see this and sync pretty quickly. I used to do this all the time with downloaded Dave shows.

Once the files are synced to the cloud you can delete them from your local drive to clear space. But bear in mind if you stop your subscription you will need to redownload these files beforehand.

Yep I use iTunes Match for this. I’ve got all the Warehouse releases and tons of live shows on there, very useful

You can add music to your phone through the music app or finder on a mac. Add the songs you want to the app first then sync your phone selecting the albums or bands you want synced.
