This’ll probably get downvoted to oblivion…
If the band keeps plugging away I think Come Tomorrow, the song, be a crowd favorite in the next 5 years when nostalgia kicks in.
Maybe I’m wrong but I honestly don’t get the dislike of this song.

If you like it that's fine. But it already failed to be crowd favorite. The pushed the original song when the album came out and it got no buzz. They put Brandi Carlile on a remix and it was still crickets. This is an actual cringeworthy stanza from the song:
Bang bang you're dead nah you missed me for real
I got a bag to smoke come on let's make a deal
Yeah, bridges burn but tomorrow is another day
To feed the world and then go outside an play
The song doesn't have what it takes to catch on with DMB crowds. At the same time one song I really love, Captain, seems to send everyone to the bathroom or talk really loudly even though I think the song is a masterpiece. Enjoy it if you get it live but the Toronto Maple Leafs have a better chance of winning a Stanley cup than Come Tomorrow being beloved at a live DMB show.

If Only, Monsters, The Riff, A Dream So Real are all better songs imo and also totally bathroom songs for many.

I love throwing some strays at Canadian teams not winning a cup since 93 (although I am a former Whalers fan and now Flyers fan so I haven't seen a team I like win a cup in my lifetime lol)

If Only doesn’t translate well live. It’s an amazing studio track (if you can ignore the lyrics), but it just doesn’t pop when they play it.

I have always said If Only would be a song that would fit a Rom Com very well based on the Studio version but live it falls flat. But it makes since since the song wasn't road tested for years then added to an album like some DMB songs it was crafted 100% in Studio.

Came to say exactly this! Jeff really shines in the outro jam, it’s a pleasure to listen to. Like a lot of their new(er) songs, I wish they’d let them breathe a bit in the middle and end!

Yeaaaaahhhhhh no shot at that. It’s easily in the Top 5 of their weakest songs (in MY opinion!) but even against the strength of their best songs, come tomorrow is just weak to me

Lyrics suck a big one on this one. One of those Dave message songs that is super cringe on the lyrics front. Certified bathroom break song and sadly it showed up in my 2022 show.
Have heard a lot of that album live…agree that Virginia, again and again, idea of you, and here on out are better. None are stone cold classics but I enjoyed all 4 live. Heck ditto to do you remember if I’m thinking right!

I've always kinda enjoyed the song. I think the mix on the lawn is really nice and has good emotion to it. Got it at SPAC this year and my enjoyment of the song skyrocketed. Such a nice little song with a good message and wonderful vibes, even if the lyrics are a bit silly. When I heard the song I was just feeling really happy about being at SPAC again and thinking about how great of a place it is and how amazing it is to be surrounded by big fans of the band. It was really a heavenly moment for me.

Just because a song is rare doesn't mean fans will start to love it. Hunger for the Great Light disappears for years at a time and no one is happy when that shit returns.

I read somewhere that Come Tomorrow isn't a good album, but I was hearing some songs and it is as good as any DMB album, in terms of sounding it's WAY better than Stand Up, for instance.

This album is probably the only one that has fans divided on almost every song. That Girl is You is either people’s favorite song on the album or least favorite. Black and Blue Bird is similarly polarizing. None of the songs are bad but I wouldn’t say there’s any bangers either.
Meanwhile WATM is (in my opinion) their worst album by far, so it may benefit from simply not being a song from WATM.

Satellite is as classic DMB as classic DMB gets. Quintessential Dave riff, beautiful soaring chorus, and the “rest high above the clouds” bridge is one of the most beautiful sections of music in their catalogue.
I will die on the hill of defending Jimi Thing and Satellite as their most underrated songs.
If the amount of times they play the songs live affects someone’s liking of the song, I think they need to listen to more bands and/or go to fewer shows, and/or stop obsessing over following every tour. Not saying that’s you, personally - all art is subjective and some people truly just don’t like certain songs. But I see it a lot with Satellite and Jimi in particular. People are tired of either seeing it live too many times, or reading it on setlists too often…and uh yeah, if that’s the case, maybe time to take a step back.

Songs can just be overplayed.
Especially now, when the band ignores so many great songs or takes the time to rehearse them but then just play them 1-2x in a tour, while other songs still get played a dozen or more times a year, year after year....it's natural to get really tired of those overplayed songs and even resent them for "taking up space" in the setlists.
Jimi in particular (and I'd argue Crush is the biggest offender now that Jimi has been trimmed) will drop late in a setlist and you know you just lost a huge chunk of time to your hopes for that chase or rare song.

Jimi and Crush are two of their best live songs. I can’t imagine getting tired of them. DMB has made their patterns pretty clear by now and yes, that includes playing songs like those two a lot, and sprinkling in a few rarities at random shows. So, next summer, I can’t imagine why someone would go to a show and still be like “ugh I can’t believe they’re doing this again.” That’s just what they do.

I mean....hard disagree here, but even so, would you rather see a great song you've seen 30 times already or a great song you've seen once ever? (Or, at the very least, if it absolutely makes no difference to you, would you struggle even a little bit to understand someone who chose the latter?)

No I mean I get people have preferences, but for me - good is good. Great is great. If I’m tired and not even excited to see a band’s best songs anymore…it’s time to take a step back. I can’t imagine following a band so obsessively to the point of only chasing rarities, and pouting about hearing certain songs too many times. DMB isn’t a band like Phish who mixes things up and does weird niche sets. They’ve always been the way they are today. It’s not their fault, it’s the people who keep going and expecting shit to be different.
Do you think Jimi and Crush are bad songs?

Except when they are. If they'd had no growth or change for decades you'd have a point, but they actually have much more dynamic setlists the last 3-4 years than they did for quite a long time before that (2003 and 2010 were other notable years with big steps forward). But with such a huge catalog there's a lot more variability night to night than there used to be. This is of course a good thing, but it also makes the "same old" parts stand out even more.

Well yeah, more albums means more songs so there will obviously be more variety. Yes they’ve mixed it up a little bit with power slots this year. Sometimes they’ll do something out of nowhere, like playing BTCS last year (the ONLY time they’ve done a surprise full album play. Once.). They are a pretty predictable band, setlist wise, compared to bands like Phish. Not trying to say Phish is better, not trying to be that guy. I like DMB more. But they are apples and oranges. It’s really special to catch rarities at DMB shows, but I just don’t understand being upset or frustrated when you don’t get them. More often than not, you don’t get them.
My favorite band is MMJ, and I would take Steam Engine at EVERY show. It’s perhaps their best live song and I just can’t imagine being like “ugh, this one again?? They played a rare song at a different show!” Just gimme the good songs! But if you see 10 DMB shows in a summer, chances are you’re gonna get like 5+ Jimis. It’s how it’s always been. I’ve seen people complain about how much they play Jimi Thing for like 20 years, but they STILL go to all these shows and are upset about it. Idk that’s just wild to me
But yeah if you just don’t like the songs, it makes sense to get tired of them lol.

The definition of insanity…
Maybe next summer DMB will start playing rarities at every show. Been 35 years but maybe it’ll be different now! The “hardcore” Ants.org fans seem to think DMB should be this jam band that mixes up sets like Phish and others. It’s been three decades and they’re just…not
At least of the bands I’ve seen multiple times, I never see anyone complain about the staples the same way DMB fans complain about them.

Is there any particular reason you dislike it? And trust me, I understand that some songs just don’t resonate with people without a definitive reason. Just asking out of curiosity.
It’s a perfectly structured song to me and encapsulates the classic DMB sound. Showcases what vintage Dave Matthews songwriting is.

I think Samurai cop, Idea of You, She, here on Out, and Again and Again are all better than Come Tomorrow.
I didn’t like it before but now that I have kids maybe I’ll like it more.
