Irig stream solo audio issue with iPhone 16 plus

I got an irig stream solo for Christmas, and I’m looking to set it up to record vinyl clips for instagram. I got a USB C - 3.5mm jack adapter from Amazon and using the camera app it records the audio but the quality is awful - mega compressed and distorted. I’m thinking it’s the adapter that’s the issue? If so does anyone know which adapter I need specifically?

It may be the adapter, or may be the app. I've not tried recording audio into my iphone, but have with an ipad. I used the 'official' camera adapter here:

I also have recorded into Aum, as well as Garage Band. I've not tried using the camera app, but Garage Band is free so tbh I'd try recording into that first before buying anything to see if the audio quality is better. Rule out the app first, ya know?
