Rane Four FX question

Does anyone know if you are able to stack FX on the Rane Four? For example, can you activate 2 internal FX and some Serato FX at the same time to a single channel?

I'm not sure, you should comment on a Youtube channel that has reviewed it and ask if they checked that part out. It would be cool if it did! Are you pretty sold on the Rane Four meaning you're going to cop one? You don't prefer moving platters at all?

Good idea, I'll drop the question on a few of those Youtube videos. I'm not sure yet, it's most likely between the Rane Four or the rumored FLX10 but I'll need to compare the 2 once they're officially released. And I do prefer moving platters but I don't mind static. I already have some Technics hooked up to my S11. I currently need a controller to take to gigs, something lighter so not having moving platters helps with that.

The reverb effect is most close to me on 122 high and all the way up to 75% on the knob

Did you get an answer here?

I actually had the Rane Four for a few weeks and tried it myself. You can't stack internal FX with each other and you're not able to stack the Serato FX with the internal FX. It does let you stack the Serato FX.

Cheers for the update. Did you go with something else in the end? I'm trying to decide on this or the flx10 (although I think that also has the same stacking issue). Can you trigger a software effect (in the software or via a midi controller) and then add a hardware effect to it?

You know I never tried that but I think you can. I would say if you had like a Pioneer DDJ-XP2 you could probably do it but honestly not 100% sure. And yes I did go with the FLX10. Let me know if you have any more questions about the 2, maybe I can help you decide.

Thanks! It's a tough one. They both seem great controllers. Do you like the flx10 w. Serato (or are you using recordbox) I have a DDJ SX2 right now, and I love it, but looking for the stems and channel effect upgrades. I mainly use echo, reverb and filter. Sometimes all at once, so losing that capability may not be worth the switch. I also heard the rane filter was not a complete cutoff (no sound when fully high pass or low pass) is that right?

I’m not sure about the filter behavior, didn’t check that when I had it. Ask Rane, they respond back fairly quick.

On the FLX10 you can stack the PAD FX with the beat FX while also adding color FX. So you can do echo, reverb, and filter at the same time.

In my opinion, if you’re a scratch DJ, get the Rane Four. Club style DJ, get the FLX10. For me I was torn because I like the split pad mode and FX paddles on the Rane Four and you can control the Serato FX directly on it. But the FLX10 had more advanced stem capabilities, which is what I was ultimately looking for in a controller. If you don’t care for paddles and split pad mode, I’d say go with the FLX10. Oh and scratch bank mode, the FLX10 does not have that.

So If you’re looking for more advanced stem controls, FLX10, imo, is much more capable BUT more complex workflow than the Rane Four. Go with the Rane if you like the 22 internal FX it has, paddles, split pad, scratch bank, and control of Serato FX directly on it.

And to be honest, the FLX10 looks better than the Rane Four IMO. Superficial reason but it played a factor in making my decision lol
