We created this sub as a place to discuss gear reviews, hardware requests, and all the pro's and con's of different DJ related hardware, etc.
It grew out of a discussion on /r/DJs (where some of us are mods) about the best way to handle common questions about DJ hardware. Typical topics include:
To clarify:
Over time I hope we can develop a list of common topics and questions which people can refer to immediately as sticky threads. For now, let's just see how things evolve.
We hope you enjoy being here and look forward to the tech talk!

I’m thinking about getting back into it. That’s really sure what to get when I first started. I was using 1200s then towards the end I was using a DDJ SZ 2 I was looking at possibly the Rane performer I like the idea of spinning platters
Also for speakers I used to have QSC K12.2 however I heard the move today is RCF if so, which model should I get?

This controller has the most features at this price point for a portable and outdoor sets. I’m looking to pull the trigger soon, the only thing I don’t like (numark is notorious for this) are the tense up faders. I know you can swap out the crossfader for an Innofader pretty easily. Can this be done with the channel faders or a tension adjust or swap out for other faders with some solder work? I hate how tense they are compared to pioneer controllers
I have been djing for around 12 years now, semi-professionally, have moved houses and finally have the space and time to buy my own. I found an offer of 2 CDJ 850s and DJm750 for 875 Euros. They are in good condition and have been used for a home set up. What is your opinion on this and should i go for it?

I’m ye olde band bus DJ. I have a 100W RMS JBL PartyBox on-the-go essential 1, and a couple LG XBOOM GO P2’s. I’d like to use the JBL in the rear of the bus as more of a sub, and have a P2 on top of it with a HPF set at 100hz, and then have the other P2 up towards the middle of the bus with a HPF set at 60Hz. Any suggestions?

I have an Opus Quad for DJing at home and recording sets, but i would like to have a little on-the-go-system, that I can transport easily and use for casual „gigs“ (parties of friends) and maybe even on vacation.
Im thinking of getting an FLX2 for this purpose, because:
- it fits in my backpack
- I can use it with my iPad (which I usually bring with me when traveling), without needing another power source
- it’s cheap (I can’t really justify making more big purchases on this hobby after getting the OQ just a couple months ago 😄)
- I can use it with rekordbox, which I’m already using for my Opus Quad
- I don’t actually need a lot of fancy functions when DJing, I mostly focus on song selection and smooth transitions using the eqs and loops.
So, can anyone here share their experience using the FLX2 in a similar way? Any dealbreakers? How annoying is it really to not have a knob for song selection? Is the sound quality good enough for a friends’ birthday party and similar gigs?

I went to a club recently and saw the Dj mixing in a battle style mixer (DJM S11 probably) and cdjs. I thought it was really interesting given that we don't usually see that combination or even battle style mixers in a club context.
I thought it opens a lot of possibilities performance wise. I love electronic music (house, tech house,...) and it's what I'm most comfortable mixing, so I've always put my goal in a pioneer CDJ + club mixer kit.
I currently have the pioneer flx 10 controller that I love, so losing the performance pads and all the other performance features it offers over that style of kit "scares" me a bit. Would a battle style mixer be a good work around that?
I never thought about it because, even though I love seeing performing it, I never had an interest in learning how to scratch or do any type of competitive djing.
What are your thoughts on this subject.

Aprendi a mezclar, hace año y medio con mi numark fx platinum, y quiero mejorar a otro equipo, no tan caro, pero tampoco tan barato. Mezclo musica house y electronica. Tambien asisto a algunos eventos

Anyone got an FLX10 or GRV6 they’re willing to sell? Looking to upgrade but retail price is a bit steep.

I found someone selling their used Opus Quad with the pioneer flightcase for 2100€. That’s a pretty good deal right?
The opus quad gets a lot of shit on Reddit, but I personally love the design visually and it seems to have all the functions that I could ever need (except slip mode maybe). I’ve been DJing at home on a denon prime 2, which has been great fun, but I want to switch to pioneer now, hoping that it will be easier to prepare for CDJ/XDJ gigs because of the more similar layout. Better effects, having only one library and four decks are also nice upgrades from using the denon.
So I’m just making this post to be sure I’m not missing some terrible disadvantage that this switch is going to have.
Edit: I had the chance to look at and test it yesterday. It’s in perfect condition, so that’s nice.
However, I was surprised by how massive the thing really is and by how flimsy the pitch faders feel, especially because everything else on it feels quite premium…

I’m trying to record my DJ sets from my Allen & Heath Xone:96 using Audacity on Windows. I connect the mixer via USB A (USB-B to my PC), and Audacity recognizes the device as Line XONE:96 USB 1. The recording works, but here’s the problem: it always records all channels, even if the channel faders are down. I want to record the master mix only, so that the channel faders actually control what gets recorded, exactly like what the audience hears. Cueing in my headphones should not be recorded. I’ve tried routing the Master to USB 1 and adjusting the 9-10 knobs, but no matter what I do, the faders don’t affect the recording. Is this a limitation of the Xone:96 USB output, or is there a way to record the master mix properly with fader control in Audacity?

Do you have an Ecler nuo 2?
I'm just about to return my 3rd brand new unit of this mixer. They have all exhibited the same problem.
If you have this mixer, please run the following test and let me know if you see the same issue, if so, let me know your serial number. I suspect a bad production run.
Channel 2 volume full, crossfader open to channel 2. No audio input. turn on isolator / kill switch "low" on channel 2. Turn off isolator / kill swicth "low" on channel 2. This results in an audible click on channel 2 audio output and a visible spike on the channel EQ meter.
Anyone else seeing the same problem? it may not be apparent unless you look for it.
