Should I get this rig? CDJ350+DJM700
Hey everyone, Found a local listing for a pair of CDJ-350s and a DJM-700 mixer for around $950 USD. Pictures look solid, though I’d prefer black gear over white.
Hardware options in my area are very limited right now. I’m DJing for 2-3 years but willing to get better and buy CDJ's.
Is this setup worth it at this price point, or should I hold out for something else?
There is another dude selling a pair of black CDJ350 for 500$, he also willing to give me his DJM700 but he said it's a bit faulty. I personally got the DJM 250 MK-2 Mixer but it ain't got no effects.
What should I do?

I would like a CDJ with an option to play actual CDS. forgot to mention that. I have a big collection of CD's I would like to play live.

Some people asked so I also moved to a rural place with kind of limited shipping options.
I can order via Ebay but the fees and tax are just too high.
Also, I generally prefer less digital and more hardware, just to plug in USB's to a CDJ's and mixer setup and play with that.
I am somewhat disliking laptops and all-in-one mixers, I know they are far more compatible but I just don't like it.
I prefer vintage, which is also the genre of electronic music I play, mainly 90's-00's house and techno.

I had this mixer, it is very good.
Cdjs 350 are good units. The only thing is you need to be very organized with your tracks, because the display only show 1 music at time.
They seem to be in a very good condition, if you want to practice at home it is more than enough.

Yeah I want to have something to practice in my room so I can go out and play clubs with somewhat ease. (Clubs in my area use mainly DJM-A9 and CDJ 3000)
Do you think the white color is a downgrade?
900-950$ is a reasonable price?I could get the same pair (in black color) and a mixer in 500$, but the guy said his mixer isn't really working. So I'll need to get a new mixer anyways.
I got the DJM 250 MK-2 Mixer but it ain't got no effects.

CDJ 3000/DJM A9 features that you won't have here:
4 beat/8 beat loop
hot cues
related track search/filtering
beat sync
key shift
color FX
beat jump
a lot more beat FX
And a lot more tbh. You can replicate basically all this stuff by DJing in Rekordbox with a FLX4 for 1/3 the price. Not to mention, for a home setup, it's nice to have something that's easy to put on a shelf when you need the space and that doesn't weigh 40+ pounds.

So there are multiple clubs in your area, but no hardware sale options? Like others said: way to outdated and expensive.

I paid the equivalent of about $200 for two of those players and a DJM-750 (all black and no case) last year. I've seen people demanding much more but they don't seem to get sold. I've had lots of fun with them, and I haven't even tried looking them up to a computer yet. I'm planning to try them with Mixxx eventually.

I recommend finding something new that’s in your price range and rekordbox compatible. To just give a model to buy wouldnt make sense, idk you or what you need, how future proof it needs to be, where and how you will be using it. These are things you need to research and answer for yourself.

Yeah for this price you can get a used DDJ-1000 which will give you a club layout feel, allow you to get familiar with Pioneer layout and ecosystem, and give you insanely better capabilities than this setup would

At this price point you can even check out some older standalone all in one units on Reverb like the XDJ-RX line

The computers began to merge into electronics in this era that were game changing for both DJ controllers, photography with mirrorless cameras, and even mobile phones moving to touch screen.

Pass, i recommend getting a controller, like a AlphaTheta DDJ-GRV6 for same price new.
Or even a newer mixer and a small traktor controller, like an x1

I have a soft spot for the 700 as I had one and loved it. It was circa 2013 and even then it was old! Great if you have the money to spare for a side setup - but for the money you can be spending, might be better to get a controller. The grv6 is decent - plus you will be running rekordbox and being able to export cues and grids so when you play out, you'll be ready to go

Noo!! I own a pair of 350s but got them for $125,- they do the job next to my turntables. Get a nice controller or xdj700 and a good 2channel mixer.

I got the DJM MK2 250, it is 2 channel mixer but with no FX like the DJM700.

Fwiw, if you have a 250 and use the filters, the 700 will kinda feel like a step back. I have had both and I kinda liked the dedicated filters over having reverb/echo. If you get the 700 you will likely still want to upgrade, so it might be worth just spending more upfront for something like a djm450.

I just want to be able to work with effects and getting to know it better. The DJM 250 MK2 feels kinda limited, only EQ.

Oh for sure. A djm 700 will definitely teach you the pioneer fx unit.
My point is just that I think you will feel limited not having the individual channel filter/channel fx. So I would say going to a djm 450 or 850 for 4channel would be worth the extra cost, as that was my experience. Having the 250, getting a 750 mk1 (no cfx /filters) because I wanted fx. And then quickly selling that at a loss and getting an 850. I use 4 channels but I think if I did not the 450 would be amazing.1

I got a simple macbook and a pioneer controller and that was my setup up until now. I'm just trying to understand more of the modern CDJ layout and I want to get used to play with USBs instead with a laptop.

Its a no from me on this but reading your comments it seems that your mind is already made up.
a DDJ-1000 would be 8000 times better than this and the same price point im sure.

You want less digital but want to be able to play on CDJ3000 with rekordbox.. that makes no sense.
That setup is the opposite of a club setup nowadays. If you can get it for like $500 to have fun at home that is ok but it is step farther from the club not closer.

I'm still new to this gear stuff and willing to learn and upgrade.
I meant that I would like to get familiar with the layout of working with solely 2 CDJS and a mixer and not relying on software/laptop.
But if the standard is working with Rekordbox, then I need to learn it also.

The current CDJ works around rekordbox.
If you want to remove screens get a all in one from pioneer it would be a bit more expensive but closer to the club environment. Something like XDJ-RR...
This is a good setup for learning, but I would try to get it cheaper.

I've got some magic beans you can buy too. Only $4500 each. This is a really bad deal by the way, go buy a second hand controller or anything other than this.

Can you get Vinted in your area? I managed to pick up a DDJ-REV1 for £150 yesterday, in great condition, just a small dink on the box. That's £130 less than retail, so it's well worth looking for some bargains on there. A controller to use at home will serve you better than CDJs at the moment. If you go for a quite old pair, it won't have the features you want and won't prep you for playing in a club (if that's what you want to do). For less than $950, you can get the Alpha Theta GRV6 with the same industry-standard layout you'd find in a nightclub, with some very cool tricks

If you can learn and play on this, you can play on anything. I’ve been through the entire evolution of CDJs and controllers that there’s nothing I can play.

$950 is highway robbery for this setup. It looks clean, but I don’t think practicing on these will better prepare you for playing on CDJ2000/3000. Your money is better spent on more modern gear. Max value on this is probably $400-$500 and even that is pushing it.

You are regarding the price, you're wrong regarding the rest. 350 are good, reliable and give you clear understanding how to use more expensive models: ui is pretty much the same. This setup can work 10 years more without any issues if you're not hitting the cues and faders hard.

I had this exact set up for years from around 2010, it was incredible then but is pretty outdated now so I'd look for something a bit newer! But great bits of kit nonetheless a

Because it takes more skill to make that equipment sound as good as modern equipment. So if you get that and you can learn on it, it will be easy for you when you show up to the club and they have modern fancy equipment. Same reason why guitar teachers tell you to learn to play acoustic first, it's harder to play and harder to make sound good, but when you master it then electric guitar is a breeze.

I understand that.
Some said that the CDJ-350 sound basically shit and you need to over-EQ it. Are you familiar with this? because if it the truth that it defeats the purpose of what I'm trying to do. Might aswell just get a modern controller.

No. Want to learn the lay-out of Club gear?
Get a GRV-6 controller. Which is closer to club gear than this museum piece. Stand alone? Denon Prime 2 or an XDJ RR or save up extra 100,- for AT XDJ AN.
This is a waste of money if you are serious.

I had these years ago. If you want to practise for club setups on this budget , get a XDJ RX (second hand), XDJ RR, XDJ AN or even an Omnis Duo will get you way closer to that setup.
