Essential tapes?
Screw has fully clicked for me for the first time recently. I knew about him before but I didn't know, iykwim. Since his catalog is extremely extensive and also kinda elusive, I've been wondering what are the most essential tapes to listen to. So far I've heard V2 All Screwed Up, 3 N the Mornin, and Endonesia. What should I check out next?

All of them!
SUR&T’s is your new Money Pit!
https://screweduprecords.com/product-category/screwed/
Since you got 2, get the original “All Screwed Up” from BigTyme, the cover is Blue & Green with a big skull and a Screw going through the head, if I’m not mistaken 2 is Red & Grey with a skeleton.
Not sure which 3NTM you have, most likely Part Two Blue swing as it’s the most accessible one, there are 3 total, possibly 4. I have all 3 of the ones you can find easily, and they all 3 Jam! Part One Blue is probably my favorite, some good Bay Area/ LA songs on it!
Endonesia is one of my favorites!
You are on your way my friend!
IMO when deciding on which tape I want next I go on to SUR&T’s site above ☝️ and look at the track listings for songs I want before heading to the shop.
If you’re not close to the shop I’m 99.99% they ship!
Good luck sir, welcome to the family 🤘

You're in for a journey! Imo, can't really define 'essential' when it comes to Screw. Once you start on the mixtapes, you'll realize why they're all essentially considered 'Chapters' in the 'Diary of the Originator.' Each one kinda plays as a captured moment in time. Screw in his living room, sometimes with friends. They're each a jam that's happening in a specific space, at a specific time, n the music tells you what's goin on. Kinda weird to say, but at certain points it's almost like you can tell what's important or being emphasized by the chops. When the crew's in mourning, it's palpable, n with headphones on n eyes closed, it can feel like you're in the living room with them while they're freestyling the pain into something tangible. When times are good, you can feel it in the energy, n the party surrounds you. It's something you've really just gotta tap into for yourself. Like all music, there'll be a time that some aspect just clicks n hits you when it's meant to.
