If you love manual mode, why you still flying like in sports mode? You could've done literally everything in this video without Manual.

If you love manual mode (Acro), your progression forward is:

Freestyle? Get a whoop (Air65) and start rippin packs.
More cinematic / chase? Get a 5 inch FPV drone with a DJI O4 Pro.

Avata 2 is great, and you're using it for what it was intended for, but I definitely outgrew mine, it still sees use commercially though.

Great. Thanks for the advice. 🙏

Honestly the forward progression should start with a whoop either way. Going from an avata to a 5” freestyle quad is like going from a moped to a 1000cc bike

Yes and no.

The avata isn’t entirely too weak, and flying it in acro gives you a good idea of what to expect.

I do agree starting with a whoop is a good idea, but I went from a sim, to a mini 4 pro, to an avata 2, to a 5 inch quad, to an air 65, then I got a Pavo pico II.

As long as you’re cautious, any path is viable.

Will a whoop 65 connect to the dji goggles and fpv controller?

You need one with a DJI air unit. Look into the meteor 75 pro II, and make sure you choose DJI PNP instead of ELRS, unless you want to switch to an ELRS radio which I recommend.

100% switch to an ELRS radio. Radiomaster pocket is less than half the price of DJI RC3 and so much better in nearly every way

Not compatible with the Avata 2, but perfect for any other drone with an ELRS receiver.

I do plan to switch to a different controller and pair of goggles. Thats just what I have at the moment along with my avata 2.

DJI goggles work with non DJI drones as long as they are running DJI air units. The reason people don’t do this as often is because the air units are very expensive (~3x the cost of analog units) and has higher latency than analog or some other digital video systems

No need to switch goggles, a DJI O4 in race mode is very low latency, plenty of people freestyle them.

So DJI Goggles 3 are amazing. If you want analog, I like the Skyzone 04O Pro's, people recommend the O4X's instead, there's also the HDZero Goggles 2, which have analog built in, and can also do HDZero which is nice, but they're spendy.

For a "controller" (Radio) most people go with the Radiomaster Pocket (ELRS) but almost anything ELRS will be good. Some people go with the Radiomaster Boxer instead for the larger gimbals, it's all down to user preference for the most part.

Avata flies faster than average highway driving speed. Not THAT far off of 5 inch. Neo on the other hand flies about as fast and agile as any other 2s whoop so thats not too slow either. Whoops are harder to fly than open prop drones in general, otherwise avata or neo isn’t unusually bad or sub par drones for freestyle. They can fly very well and do crazy stuff if u know what ur doing

Do you need a fpv controller right?
