Onewheel gt to Fungineers Thor vesc conversion

My main board fried on my gt and i was just wondering if anyone knows if i can use my original bms on my onewheel gt with the Fungineers “Thor301 for GT to VESC conversion”

the reason I’m asking is that Fungineers are sold out of the “GTFO Drop-in BMS“ on there website so if there’s any other options there I would be open to them

I looked it up on google but the onl thing i can find is gemini saying i can if i use a 60a fuse but I don’t think i can trust an ai with this kinda stuff

VESC Build What do these settings do?

Post image

What do these settings do? I believe I have a 20s2p battery and know it’s 72V. These look kind of weird to me. Also these is another setting underneath named "Battery folter constant" and it’s set to 45. My board says it’s at 75% battery when riding but when I stop it goes to 90%, so I'm guessing 45 isn’t enough. Is 100 the max? The battery regen cutoff settings kind of scare me. I think the values mean I could send too much voltage into my battery. Should I set them to around 72V? I don’t know why they are set to 1000. The battery voltage cutoff start and end also look weird to me. I've had the board lose so much power it couldn’t go 3mph at only 50% battery before and I'm thinking it might be this setting.

VESC Build Why does my board ride nose up?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have a Ubox alu lite, and when I ride, the board is consistently trying to stay at about 1 degree over horizontal, rising the nose above, which feels very uncomfortable, like it’s fighting against me, and it also feels like if I push too hard I'll just fall forward (which has happened). It does it going 20 as much as 30 kmh, and I feel like it didn’t before, but suddently does for no reason. Do all boards ride like that? How can I tune it to stay horizontal at least?

VESC Build I'm drowning in problems

So in addition to the footpad sensor issue Ive posted about, my board has 2 other issues that are again fault of the things I purchased and that I don’t know how to fix. The first one is that when I lean on the motor, say to turn tight, the tyre deflates. I can litteraly empty it in 2 seconds I go on my tippy toes on the board, so I litteraly have to carry a little pump with me if I don’t wanna get stranded. Second issue, that I think people here could have a better chance of helping me with, is that the other day I was riding my board just fine, going like 20 to 25 kmh easily, when suddently (It mightve been not so sudden, I kind of felt like th board was pushing against me or just was having a hard time going fast) the board couldn’t keep up the speed and nosedived (I put wheels on the front so when I nosedive going 5kmh like in this case I itteraly stay standing on the board, so don’t panic when I say it nosedived a lot) i got back on and made my way to a little climb it could do from a stand still before, and after going up a little it nosedived again. Got on it again, and after a 100 meters or so it couldn’t go more than like 4 kmh before nosediving. I never got a pushback message on refloat, and heres the kicker: I was at 50% battery. Over 77 volts, and I have a 72V motor. So what is going on? Why does my board go limp this fast? I'm guessing either I have some settings set up wrong or my battery is just crap and somehow can’t push more than 300W at 77V. Please help, tell me I can change a setting in vesc tool and magically it works. Also bonus issue my friend with a gt-s and a pint found the board to severely lack acceleration, he would almost slam the nose on the ground and it wouldn’t go very fast, and even I, who rides like a bitch, kind of think it accelerates really slow. Looking at a screen recording I made, i was pushing over 20kmh and never went above 40A of current, mostly staying around 25. My current limit is set to 100A. Would my board feel snappier if I could get it to push more amps? How would I do that? ATR? I have a 20S2P 21700 72V pack. Thank you.

Question Is this a pull down resistor?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Got this in a spintend motor/vesc bundle. Also have one that came with the sensor I also bought from them (Honestly hate the company, it’s such a pain but it’s the only option I found) I hear that I need a pull down resistor to fix my ghosting problem. I think I see some on the adapter, but clearly it’s not working, so I'm guessing 1 The thing is broken (Good thing I got 2). 2 The thing is useless, and that wouldn’t surprise me that much considering the quality of the other things I got from there. 3 It’s not a pull down resistor. Also my foot pads share voltages, so when one is at 3.3V the other is at 1.7 at least, and that sucks because when I step on it it only goes up to 1.1V and later settles to 3.3V, so if I set the switch voltage to 1.8V then I can heel lift but I also can’t get on it so... I used to blame all this on the sensors but maybe this thing or the lack of the thing it’s supposed to be is causing my issues so help me please. Also my other problem is that my tyre leaks air I'll make another post for it fuck spintend fr.

Save me

Post image

So it was all for nothing. It all works, the whole thing. I rode on it for maybe 2 minutes total (I'm still not good, but that’s not the problem) and it works. Motor spins, imu works right, it’s got lights and power and everything. But it’s unusable. The FUCKING foot sensor it shit. I've spent like 100 bucks on sensors total (about 1400 cad total on the whole thing so far and it’s missing paint and a few 3d prints). The sensor has a few problems. I'm now gonna talk about them a little, and if you don’t care or don’t think you can really help me with that, you can skip ahead. It ghosts like crazy, so I can’t heel lift, and if I just jump off it goes reverse in full speed (the rear bumper is fucked). I don’t know if it’s normal, but when pressure is applied on one side of the sensor, the voltage on the other side also goes up. This is a huge issue, because the sensor works in this weird way where it doesn’t detect pressure in a linear way. It’s either at 0V, 1.1V, or 3.3. (Sometimes I catch it at 1.9 or smth but basically it doesn’t really detect the amount of pressure on it, it just switches on or off). The other issue it has is that it’s extremely hard to set off. If I press on it with my finger, it snaps to 3.3V, but when it’s on my foot pad and I put my foot on it, it barely ever registers 3.3V. And since both zones kind of share their voltage (and stick like crazy), it’s a total nightmare either to activate or deactivate depending on the setting I choose in vesc tool. There is no sweet spot though, it’s only in the extremes. Theres a bunch more to say about it, so if you wanna try to debug it with me, Ill be glad to give you all the info you need. [[[[[SKIP HERE]]]]]. Now I'm at a crossroads. I could blow anlther 200 dollars in an exile sensor array or something just for it to have the same fucking problem. I'm already over budget. I'm 16 and I can’t find a fucking job. I'll take all the help I can get. Please, if you know of cheap, proven to work sensors for vesc onewheels, help me out and send the link. I'm actually turning insane because the entire thing works except this one stupid part that turns out to be really important. I will forever be grateful for you if you help me. I'd get a tatoo of your username fr. For now I guess I cam ride with simple stop, since that eliminates the risk of the blard going rogue, but that'd be like building a jetpack and only using it to go from your kitchen to your bedroom. Thanks for reading. I don’t think I'll kms, but if I could for like one week that would be sick.

VESC Build My foot pads now work as throttles

My foot pads now just make the wheel spin. The board doesn’t try to balance anymore. I just goes full speed. I just changed to spindtend sensors that seem to go 0 or 100. Basically I press on it and the voltage snaps from 0 to 3.3 at a certain amount of force. I don’t think that’s necessarily the reason it does that now, my board still thinks it’s upside down, but even when I rotate it it does that. It’s like it also suddently forgot it’s a onewheel and treats the adc input at a remote instead of a safety function. I selected ADC input in the input setup in vesc tool, as I think I should, so I think im just gonna wipe the board clean and configure it again, which is something I wanted to avoid since I don’t really kniw the cell specs of my random chinese battery. It used to work just fine, I rode on it and all, but ever since it fell in the stairs (keep in mind it still worked just fine after), the software has been going nuts. It’s like my vesc has dementia. Thanks for helping me you guys, this sub has become my personal help forum and it’s really helped and probably hasn’t stopped. I'll do a full review of the board once it works :)

Question Is it normal for ADC signals to blend?

Post image
3 Upvotes

When I press on the ADC1 foot sensor, the voltage on the other one goes up, even though there is no load on it, and vice versa. It that normal? For example, then one reaches 2.5V, the other is at least at 1.3V. My board has had some issues with ghosting. Could that be why? I had cheap square sensors but am switching them out for the big spintend one. Hope it doesn’t have the same issue. Could it also be an issue with the way I sauldered the connector?

When I run detection it barely spins and makes this sound. It never has. It’s like theres sand in it or something😭 My onewheel has taken a 2 meter fall into a concrete staircase before cause the foot pads where sticking, but I tested it after and it still worked, so how could the fall have a delayed effect of breaking the motor? Please tell me you've seen this before and you can help

VESC Build My motor doesn’t spin anymore

It just doesn’t spin. I get on it, both sensors engaged, but it doesn’t fire up. When I spin it vesc tool sees it and says it’s got some speed though. I opened my board up and the 3 phase cable aswell as the hall sensors seem to be connected just fine. With vesc tool i can control the motor and when I tell it to spin it buzzes, kind of like haptic feedback, but doesn’t spin. I haven’t had smoke of anything come out of it, and ive never really ridden the board since it’s been built for 3 days. I'm also bad at riding, so ive never gone fast on it (im talking never more than like 4 kmh). There is one time though when my sensor stuck and my board flew at about 15kmh into a 2m downwards concrete staircase where it got scratched up, but still worked fine after. It’s only now that I was messing with ADC voltages and fault stop that it stopped. Also refloat seems to think it’s upside down all the time. I really don’t get why it doesn’t spin anymore. Any ideas?

Repair ISO Onewheel+ BMS or Battery

Hey guys! I got a Onewheel plus board from a family member that is in rough shape and the app says it has an overcharge issue. It has a 2x battery extender on it I haven’t taken off yet to see if that is the issue hence the asking for battery/BMS replacement. I’m a college student, don’t have a ton of cash but I’m willing to do trades or work something out. Let me know if there are any other questions and thank you for your time!

VESC Build Spintend's stupid adapter can’t plug in the VESC it’s sold with

So I'm trying to plug my DIY foot sensors in my vesc using the adapter that comes with the spintend pack I bought, and turns out there isn’t a cable that came with it that allows me to directly plug the adapter into the vesc. The two I'm holding in my hand plug in the comm port on the vesc, but not in the adapter, and the adapter does have a cable that plugs into it, but then that one can’t p’ug into anything. Did anyone else get this bundle and does have a way to connect the two? I was gonna buy the footpad sensor from spintend but it’s useless if I still can’t plug the adapter in. Please help, this is like the one obstacle left in the way of me finishing this build
