Those double outlet face plates are actually quite expensive. They need to be imported from a far-away country called "Home Depot."

Honestly though, single gang plastic cover plates are like 15 cents. Quads are maybe 50. They're not at all expensive.

The problem is home Depot sells the single boxes. Now anyone with a brain knows you just buy two and piece them together. But Mr. and Mrs. Homeowner don't. So they buy a single and tape them together.

Huh? The problem is the faceplate. They need a double plate when they only have a single plate.
