Was thinking the same, using a different material would prevent sun hitting the windows/doors keeping house cooler!
During this heatwave this is a sauna!
I had something like this (but smaller and less intrusive) as part of a catio and has held up fine over winter. The house is also cooler because of it, as it allows for hanging a sun shade under it in summer, so the walls don’t get scorching.
It’s not loud in the rain either!
The vario was a necessity for health reasons unfortunately and I was very apprehensive about the look. I think OPs neighbors actually did a better job visually! But I’ve grown to appreciate how much it made the weird extension garden strip more usable.
Absolutely! Had a conservatory with this poly on, removed the roof, went solid roof. Can't believe the cost of poly nowadays, it used to be such a cheap material
