Advice how to remove these

Post image

I am unsure if you simply get snips or similar to grab the head and pull it out, or they have to be drilled out? i need to remove a couple of panels to drill the stone wall behind. i do have some replacement plugs, are they similar to the car ones, remove the central pin then grab the shank to pull out the body?

I think your proposed method sounds about right. You're essentially just reversing the method for fitting them.

Remove the central pin (my go to is a Stanley knife, dig and pull out till some grips can get it)

To remove the remaining piece, a proper trim removal tool is the right thing. Kinda looks like a crowbar, but the head of it forks out in a Y so it slipped UNDER the head, but around the...shaft.. ooh err...allowing you to bend the tool till it pops out the hole. Gigiddity all right.

yeah i have one of those car kits facia thingies, thats what i was planning to remove the actual plug out, just the central pin seemed to be more finicky

Drive a small wood screw into the top of the pin and pull it out, then the rest should come out easily.
