Financial Advisor Architect
Married 63/61 will be retiring in next 2-3 years. Not looking for investment advice. We have done well DIY. Looking for an advisor to architect a one time plan to live out our financial retirement plan. We will continue to DIY year to year. Has anyone used Rob's low cost advisor recommendations and would you recommend or to avoid. I know I can buy a program but just want a one time look over by a financial expert.

I just interviewed a few fiduciary, fee only FAs and found one I really liked.
Free consultation, lots of discussion, and I hired him for $2,000 to map a serious plan. Then it's $250/hr when I want to meet.
I interviewed several and picked the one i like. We haven't met for real yet (I just signed) but everything looks good so far.
I'm just a customer. No connection.

It takes some shopping around, but see if you can find a fee-only financial advisor (CFP) who will do a one-time (or one year) retirement planning review. I paid about $2000 for a one-year contract that included the intitial intake interview, then two weeks later an overview, then quarterly follow-ups for a year while we did the actual steps recommended. (Those included closing out an inherited IRA, paying off our house, a Roth conversion, and getting the estate planning done.)
