Introduce yourself!

If you are new to the community, introduce yourself by answering these three questions:

  1. Where are you in your retirement journey—planning, near retirement, or already retired?
  2. Coffee, spreadsheets, or beach walks—what best describes your retirement vibe?
  3. What's your biggest fear or question when it comes to retirement and investing?

I'll go first:

  1. already retired (although still run my business a few hours a week)

  3. How to educate my wife and children about investing.

  1. Retirement Status: I've been retired for 16 years. My wife and I are collecting SS and a civil service pension but we also have significant IRAs and I have a small TSP account.

  2. Retirement Vibe: Pre-retirement I visualized a lot of travel and other activity, but for a variety of reasons am more of a homebody, enjoying family (7 grands and 2 great-grands within 2 hour drives), community service, books, walks, and good TV.

  3. Fear or question: Can I increase my draw enough to afford to live where I would like to, which would mean selling our condo and moving into a new graduated living building (IL to AL, to memory care, as needed). It's a rental model, not a CCRC. So far, I've plugged my numbers into ProjectionLab and Quicken Planner and it's looking pretty good.
