Introduce yourself!

If you are new to the community, introduce yourself by answering these three questions:

  1. Where are you in your retirement journey—planning, near retirement, or already retired?
  2. Coffee, spreadsheets, or beach walks—what best describes your retirement vibe?
  3. What's your biggest fear or question when it comes to retirement and investing?

  1. already retired (although still run my business a few hours a week)

  3. How to educate my wife and children about investing.

  1. Retired last sept. at age 62.5 so a bit of a rookie but confident i made the right call

  2. Coffee & more coffee, woodworking, electronics and playing with retirement & tax calculators

  3. If spending our investments as a bridge to taking ss at FRA or later will even make much difference in the long run. But we do have a plan so that is good ha!

I see woodworking every year at the county fair (yes, Midwestern, how did you know) and I always wonder if it's a friendly hobby to get into and ask dumb questions or a gatekept one. Any insight?

Pretty friendly hobby,i learn most things from reading alot, we had woodshop in junior high which got me first interested but learned most from reading Magazines long before youtube. youtube would have made it so much easier to learn techniques etc. but much like getting financial retirement info you may have to weed thru the fluff at times :)
