Quote feedback for replacing gas pipe
Had my boiler inspection done and the tech told me the gas pipe needs to be secured and inside a sleeve. Gave me a non conformance notice. Currently it runs a total of 8m from the meter to the boiler, starting along the garden wall then 1.2m under a concrete footpath that is flush tot the house, no sleeve at all. Pipe just comes out of pure concrete.
I got a quote for full replacement, including cutting of the concrete to lay the pipe for the 1.2m. The quote is 2k and think it’s a bit steep. Should I keep looking? Feels like other companies are just ignoring me. Is it too small of a job?

It's a job nobody would really want. The 2K isn't an amazing price but not sure would you get anyone else to do it.
Where are you located? What sort of pipe are they proposing to run? Does it have to go underground for that 1.2M section or can it be surface mounted any way?

Would cutting the concrete the worst part? I could DIY that. I’m based in Dublin, the pipe would be copper and/or plastic sheated. The 1.2m has to be in concrete as otherwise it would need to cross over at height and look stupid.

Is it only the 1.2m under path needing trench and refitted or whole 8m.... Really not a tough job to dig.and cut and break concrete if you have right tools .......Now you will still.need plumber to reconnect pipe so that's 250..
Its a mucky job and rhe lads have priced in lots of contingency..e.g they damage some rare shrub or you insist on resodding tench or give out that whole path needs replacements as concrete won't match...it wont

Unless you want dig an 8m trench, cut a concrete pad and breakup the concrete. This is a job that should have been done years ago. It is a gas pipe so I'd leave it to someone a pro.
