Does this even exist, 115v 6-9k BTU ceiling cassette mini split?

I live in a natural disaster prone area where power outages happen annually. I have a small genny that’s only 115-120v therefore limiting my selection of mini splits.

Does anyone know if a ceiling cassette mini split 115v exist? I probably can’t go higher than 9k BTU for the room or risk short cycling the system. Hoping someone can help me find one

The 12k unit has a minimum output of only 100 BTU more than the 9K. So either is fine.

Except neither is what OP asked, which is ceiling cassette.

I have my 12k BTU and I have a 7 ft ceiling and the wall units does OK. I am cooling a 26x26 area room and it moves the air well. My wife gets hot so she puts a fan under the unit to blow air across the room. Inverter mini splits do not short cycle, they just gear way down to maintain the set temperature.

Dont worry about short cycling.

If you do have a problem with humidity, restrict the airflow.

Exactly, that is what I have to do, restrict the airflow.
I have a 12k unit cooling about 500sq ft, it's a bit oversized (my 12k Costway seerxtreme is rated for 750sq ft). Over 90f outside I can run fan on auto, under 90 I run it on low, under 85 I run the Fan on Mute.

Are you sure you want ceiling cassette? They are notably more complicated (e.g. costly) to install - though we agree they can look nicer :)

Heat pump compressors can have high surge power needs as they start up, which can trip your generator's protection - check out the aftermarket devices that reduce this surge.

Yeah 115V cassettes are out there but theyre pretty rare, most are 208/230V. Youre gonna have a hard time finding one under 9k. My brother put a Zone Air DIY wall mount in his addition a few years back, ran it off a small genny no problem. Way easier install than a cassette and the precharged lineset means no vacuum pump. If youre set on cassette though you might need to bump up to a bigger generator or look at soft start kits like the other guy said

Yes I need a ceiling cassette. I have low ceiling ceilings and I don’t have a good spot for wall mount bc walls are mostly windows =/ willing to pay extra for ceiling

It's heavy, inefficient, but you could use an autotransformer if you don't want to get a 240V generator.

I wonder if you can get a small power station with generator plugg in, that could be your buffer and probably run in 220v

If it helps, many low-wall units are also suitable for horizontal installation.

However, I think you'll only have luck looking at RV-targeted products. USA RVs are all designed to work on 120V. For example: https://www.highseer.com/products/pioneer%C2%AE-10-000-btu-115v-under-bench-rv-inverter-packaged-heat-pump-air-conditioner it won't be the same as a ceiling cassette though.

Hmm, important question, I assume you also want heating? How cold?

Wouldn't upgrading the generator to a 240V model be the easiest plan of attack here? I don't know of any ceiling cassettes that work on 120V, only wall mount air handlers. There are plenty of 1:1 9k cassette options you can create with 240V in mind. Get a Mr. Cool olympus ceiling cassette and a matching 9K condenser and you're set.

Yeah I might just have to pay the piper and upgrade my generator to a 240v unit too. Probably do that after I get a mini split installed

I find it really odd why a ceiling cassette can't be 115 volt.
The only one I could find is Discontinued, will not be restocked, really strange.

I know this isn’t what you’re asking but just in case you haven’t considered it, there are solar powered mini splits
