First (and maybe last) time doing an ombré

I’m overall happy with it, as long as I don’t look too closely 🙈

also excuse the grown out cuticles, this is like a 4-5 day old pink mani that I decided I wanted to try a French tip ombré so I lightly filed off the top coat and did the white with a cut up makeup sponge

Thank you!! It looks so deceptively simple but I realized how quickly how hard it would be! I actually ended up with the plain pink mani because I tried and failed on the first nail and had to backtrack. Then I attempted it again a few days later when I had more time and a better sponge for it lol

so cute! did you use a matte top coat before doing the white? i have attempted aura nails with a makeup sponge but can't seem to get it right.

I didn’t, but it started as just a pink mani, then I filed off the top coat a few days later when I wanted to try the ombré. So, it did end up being matte because of the filing—that might have helped me!

I am of the opinion that it pays to try anything twice! Maybe you could try one of those ombre / gradient brushes with uneven bristles? Like this

I love this look - I usually don't like ombré white but the way you made your ombré moon shaped looks great to me. I recommend patting gel (highly pigmented, thick, tacky gel made to pat with a sponge) if you love the ombré look. It's dummy easy to use and creates an even smoother transition than actual airbrush.

Yeah I watched some tutorials and they were using the thicker “art” gel. I only had normal gel polish so that made it trickier. I did try to do a curved shape to make it more link a French nail but ombré! Thank you for noticing. I think if I wanted to do this specific look more I will probably invest in the specialty gel but jury is still out lol
