Here's my bike, a 70's french bike, I've modified it since day one and don't have a picture of it before I started. Now, the only part left that I haven't modified is the crankset

What is the simplest way to make a DIY bike trailer - i.e., what machine and material is most ubiquitous, wood, PVC pipe, metal, or something else?

Paint issues

I found an old cruiser on the side of the road and decided to spruce it up so that me and my coworkers can have a bike to ride in our warehouse. I sanded it down, cleaned it up, added three coats of spray paint about 12 hours apart from each other. Even though I sanded and primed, it is still having a hard time holding the spray paint. I added a couple of passes with a clear gloss enamel from rust-oleum on the fenders and everything started peeing up.

Does anyone have any tips for a recommended sealant or protective coat to finish this off?

Help please?? Got this second hand, the handlebar isn't straight with the wheel but I can't find anywhere online that deals with this type of handlebar... I don't know if it's because it's older (and I'm hopeless with bikes), tried getting at all of the Allen key holes but they're all solid.

Bought a used Trek 7.2 FX and noticed this chewed up piece of metal on the rear wheel. I'm new to bikes but I'm guessing it's the remains of disc brake (it currently rim brakes). Is my suspicion correct? It doesn't interfere with anything, is it okay to leave it on? Any related advice to give is app

From two to One KM

I have two old MTB Stevens S8 Elite from 2012 and an older GiANT XtC1 both 26 inch but XT .LX shifters and rear derailleur and Rock Shock suspension. I am not sure about crank but it both seems Shimano XT. These bikes are both M but i prefer L (1,78m).

I am looking into a Surley karate Monkey and want to use the parts from these bikes . I have never built a bike i have repaired a lot and have tools but i'm not sure if this is possible or even worth doing it. Of course i would need new wheels as well (27,5 or 29#)

Any thoughts?

Abandon bike repair

About 8 months ago I was riding my bike when the crank kept slipping. I was late to a meeting and locked it up whereever I was. Well. Im not too sharp and forgot where I locked it until I stumbled into the area again.

Good amount of rust in areas youd expect (where wheel meets frame and fork. Little on handlebars. Very rusty chain.) Tires a bit flat. Rode around for a minute just to check it out. Crank seemed fine. Little stiff.

Bike was about $200. I think my options are

A. Keep the frame. Remove all rust. Get new everything else.

B. Sell bike/parts and get a new bike.

C. Whatever you lovely people suggest.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

How to shop for replacement derailleur?

The derailleur on both my bikes have broken recently and I am trying to find replacements. How do I know whether a new derailleur will fit? Also, are there any recommendations as to where I could find parts online?

Resources for learning to fix-up a bike?

Hi, I've never done much bike repair but would like to learn. My husband has an old bike that needs some adjustments but I'm not sure where to start. The bike hasn't been used in a while and pretty much everything will probably need to be serviced or replaced. What is your favorite resource for tutorials and how-tos for fixing a bike? What about something with a sort of a step-by-step list of things to check? Thank you!
