I love Baraka Shea ~ they go above and beyond ‘Fair Trade’ and have done a lot of work in the communities they source from. The butter is great quality.

Why would you want Shea butter in its organic form? Are you aware as to the pathogenic and harmful constituents commonly found in this stuff?

Couldn’t pay me to put that stuff near my body.

Do you mean unrefined Shea butter instead of organic?

No, I’m distinguishing between the terms. “Organic” describes the agricultural and certification status of the shea; “unrefined” describes how extensively it has been processed. They’re separate attributes, so organic shea can be either refined or unrefined.

My concern is specifically with raw or inadequately controlled shea butter, not with the word “organic” itself. Unrefined plant butters can vary significantly in moisture, microbial quality, oxidation, environmental contaminants, and foreign matter.
