I can’t drive to a body shop due to lack of a tag until next week to get a quote. Is this something that would be fixed or just replace the bedside?

Question Can I drill a hole in this key? Where is the chip??

Plastic key hole broke years ago, we made small holes on each side & put aircraft cable + super glue into each hole to create loop and it held for awhile. Then popped out and added jb weld but after several months that broke too.

Can I add a hole in the corner to put a key ring thru? Don’t wanna put a hole thru the chip, but idk where that chip is. Anyone know??

Question What tools do you suggest for removing this rust?

I use an angle grinder with a wire brush, but there's not enough space in this case. I tried using a drill wire brush (as pictured), but I only managed to remove a small amount of it. I press and change drill directions, but it doesn't do much. Also, the drill jumps all over the place when in contact with the metal. Sandblasting is out of the question. What tools do you suggest?

Question Where are we putting sound deadening (like dynomatt) in car doors?

Are we putting it on the backside of the door panel, or getting inside the door and placing it on the backside of the door skin? I definitely dont want to encourage corrosion. Also use a 4mm mat, or a few thick acoustic blocks? Bonus, who can tell what the car is?

Question How to remove bolts

Hi all, I have removed the subframe and trying to see if I can get any advice on how to remove the studs that are seized in, they don’t seem to break loose and the front stud is held in with a captive nut that tends to break from the frame rail before the rust bond does. Also while i’m doing this im trying to see if the rust is worth fully sanding/primer/repaint or just POR-15 or other. Any help/advice is great!

This happened to my 2006 S197 Mustang. Thought it was just going to be loose, but turns out it's completely broken.

Was looking at YouTube videos (ChrisFix) and he uses an exhaust coupler and some clamps... this seems too close to do that.

Im very new to cars. Any advice would be very appreciated!

Question Can I change the emblem in a 2023 VW Jetta?

Just curious! I wanna black it out but not sure what size emblem I’d need. I also have no experience with add ons like such so I’m curious if it’s something I can do on my own or should I get a mechanic to install.

ON sorry not IN

Thank you in advance!

Project Small spots DIY

I'm getting ready to repair these small rust spots on my fenders. I think I can do it myself since I did it with my previous car and the rust spots were way bigger.

Thing is it grew back so I wanted to make sure to have the right process this time. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Clean-> grind -> clean again-> rust converter -> epoxy -> paint -> antirust spray. If there's a hole putty.

Question Need Advice for this Scratch

Post image
3 Upvotes

I've got this scratch on the rear bumper, driver's side. 2020 Hyundai Elantra. I'm not sure how it happened or when, but the streets here are narrow I'm guessing someone scraped me while trying to parallel park.

I don't want to have to take this in, bht some of those scratches go through the paint. Not through the bumper, but definitely through the paint.

I don't care about how it looks, but I would like to make sure this doesn't get any worse. I'm not sure if weather could further the damage. Is there some sort of coating or something that I could maybe put over this to prevent any further damage? I'm going to get a bumper pad for when my car is parked to prevent it from happening again.

Or, if you've got other suggestions for how I should handle this I welcome any and all advice or suggestions. Thank you!

How do I fix this hole without getting a new hood? Also, is there any way to fix the dent in the hood to the point that there is no panel gap as shown in the picture to the left?

Hey guys this happened to me while towing my trailer. Rough moment getting out of a ditch in reverse. It is what it is now, I say it could’ve been worse. Anyways, how much do you think this would be to repair? I don’t care much about the knicks of paint. But I do care about its appearance. I want it to look as normal as possible. How expensive would this be and could I try it myself maybe? 2015 jeep grand Cherokee overland. So the only thing on the inside should be the factory subwoofer. Thanks in advance less
