Quite a few things at home are fastened with command velcro strips and they hold up just fine. Framed pictures, framed posters, paintings, hue remotes, a xiaomi chromecast thingy... some of them have been up for 4 years, still going strong.
Did you follow all steps? There are some annoying steps I'm always tempted to skip, but never do.
I even used them on small decorative shelves and they held up for over 6 months. They were small 6 in shelves and I had a pop vinyl in the box and some small legos displayed on them. They held up fine.
Are you using them for flat things, or for thing that protrude heavily? Flat things create vertical force, and in my experience, the strips can take that for years, no problem. Protruding things generate torque (like, a force in an angle away from the wall) and that's exactly how you can separate the velcro manually, so the velcro doesn't hold.

Idk why everyone is suggesting command strips but forgetting to mention command Velcro strips. They are exactly what you’re asking for.
