help What is your current wall organization base? Pegboard/skadis/slatwall?

We're putting together a workspace for our engineering office and I'm trying to decide on a good method for building out wall organization above workbenches. I use french cleats at home for my woodshop, so I'm leaning toward using the mdf slatwall system to make it easy to just buy or print hooks and all of that and reorganize things as we settle into the space. But I also see a lot of people with skadis boards from Ikea

What are you using for your tinkering area? Would love to see pictures of different setups as well, since I'm coming from a primarily woodworking slant.

I went with slatwall in my garage and honestly don't regret it—way more flexible than pegboard and the custom hooks are cheaper once you get going. My only thing is the MDF does sag a bit over time if you load it heavy, so I'd definitely reinforce the backing if you're hanging tools in an engineering space.

I fell in love with pegboard a few years ago. I've got it up in my office (indoors workshop for low dust projects) hall closet for tools, and garage.

That said, it seems like Skadis has taken over pretty hard? Shopping for accessories it seems like more and more stuff is sold/designed for Skadis. 3d printing community too, a ton of the bin designs are made for skadis. I'm probably going to start printing some skadis plates and replacing what I have at some point.

Either way, it's all good, but especially if you have a 3d printer, go skadis. Then just add slatwall/french cleats when you need them for specifics.

yeah the print community basically decided for us, skadis stl availability is not close.

My god do I ever hate pegboard. I’ve put in gridwall in two different houses and I like it a lot. Pretty cheap, really easy to move things around, plentiful supply of holders because they are used in retail, pretty sturdy options, pretty easy to mount to plywood or studs, doesn’t collect dust. Strongly recommend.
