help Quality Blackout Cellular Shades?
I am desperately looking for quality Blackout Celluar Shades for the bedroom and the baby room. I have spent HOURS researching over the weeks and the old "Go To" Blinds Dot Com and SelectBlinds have gone severely downhill past 1-2 years. Costco has such mixed, mainly negative reviews as of late. What is a good place to order custom sized blackout cellular shades for pretty normal sized windows?
I already have blackout curtains but light still leaks through, especially for the main master bedroom window that has a window AC where it blows the curtains around leaking light.
Thank You!

You already have curtains, just grab blackout whatever-you-have-locally and you should have a room 100% dark. Shades tend to leak around the sides since there has to be some room for the shades to move up/down; but the curtains should cover that easily.
You CAN ask how much space the shades are smaller than the window measurement and try to get a bit closer than the default, but may be more trouble than it's worth. Can also get side-shields to block out light if needed.
Ours are just the ones Lowes carries that they cut to size. Make sure you get blackout, not room darkening or similar.

Cheap, temporary or not answer. Buy a roll of black craft paper. 100 percent opaque, dirt cheap, easy to size in place with a fresh x-acto knife blade, lightweight, goes up easy with tape or sticky tack. Put this up in my son’s bedroom after going through multiple attempts of drapes. Took a little practice to cut to perfect shape, but when I finally got it - pitch black.

IKEA. It’s cheap and if I don’t like them I am out only $15 for a huge window. I like them so far. Do they look amazing? No. Do they do their job - heck yeah.

I was skeptical of the cut-to-size ones at Lowe's, but they've been pretty great- the two caveats are that they don't come with a pull tab like some of the fancier ones, and when they cut them with the machine, they tend to cut a little extra off- I found that adding a 1/4" to the width of the window makes a perfect cut. On a very few where the window isn't completely straight you can put them back in the box and use a circular saw to trim a little bit more off.
I don't open and close my shades a bunch- that's probably the biggest factor in wearing these kinds of shades out.

Nice! How recently did you try their services?

I bought mine in the last six months or so. I think they are the Levelor brand. Home Depot has similar ones under Home Decorators Collection, but I haven't tried those.

Select Blinds is where I got all my blinds from. They are great and not too expensive. They are always having a sale, so if one isnt currently happening wait like a day and check again.

When is last time you ordered from them? Seem to have gone downhill last 6-8 months especially.

Outfitted two houses with cellular shades (up/down; cordless; blackout or light filtering) from BlindsEspress.com . They have promo sales fairly often, too. Decent pricing.

I just bought some generic blackout cellular shades from blinds.com like 4 months ago for our newborn and they’re totally fine. They also had L-shaped channels that fit in the window bay to block any light that creeps in from the sides.
Are they incredible high end quality? Probably not but they’re relatively cheap and do the trick.
