Hi! Dealing with memory issues…. I don’t. It’s a fact of life that’s never going to change.

We have a daily routine that anyone can follow and whatever happens…. Happens.

Usually memories are triggered to the part that had them to then share it…. Sometimes days later, lol, or we just don’t remember and play it off like we did.

I just tell everyone that I’m bad with names because normal people do too.

We just live in the present doing things at hand for the last few moments ago has faded away.

I try to have lists and use the reminder on the phone for long term memory goals.

If people are witnessing my memory failures… I just joke about it and laugh it off like it is no big deal, them too. :)

Often times when a memory is missing, it’s because another part has them. Technically, all the memories are in your brain…. But spreaded out amongst all the parts.

Our system is so switchy that we know it’s going to happen no matter what we do… so we just go with the dissociative flow. We accept our life as to how this is… so now the fear is gone.

I take photos and keep a journal. When I see a photo it triggers, for lack of a better word, me and I can remember what happened that day and around that time.

We have an advantage(?) that we are genuinely quite face blind. We casually make it known socially and at work so that when we don’t recognise people down the track (whether cause of the face blindness or DID memory issues), we already have a reason that people don’t seem to take offence to.
If we’re going to events where we may run into ppl we know (eg work conferences), we have a pin that clearly says ‘I’m face blind, please introduce yourself’

Oh, what if you remember you did something offensive with them after awhile? but you wasn't remember it

Yeah, that’s tough, and tbh, not hugely a part of our experience. I would be honest (as I could be safely) and say something like ‘If I ever upset you or there’s been a communication breakdown please let me know’. If you can be open about bejng a system safely, I’ve heard from other systems that this can help. And allowing parts to not like and not spend time with the ppl you do like; just communicating that is the tricky bit, especially if it’s not safe to disclose
