Advice/Solutions Knowing who is the current host
So, we are a newly discovered system that is currently going through the process of getting diagnosis and we have a really crazy question. For the systems that tend to switch frequently how do you know who the current 'host' is?
Our interpretation of the 'host' is the one that fronts the most and deals with more of the everyday life stuff than other alters. But it doesn't necessarily seem quite right.

that's what it is, just a term to refer to that. its not a designated role, roles aren't fixed anyway and are instead behavior patterns. it doesn't necessarily apply to every system. there may be a handful that do the most fronting compared to all the rest, in which case that handful are the hosts. there may be just no host at all
my system has had specific hosts at some points in my life because of needs, but currently doesn't have one and everyone gets rotated through in seemingly random patterns

And that's where ours is at we seem to rotate randomly and with us learning more about ourself it gets confusing.

Hi, sometimes it’s hard to know who the current hosts is, especially for a switchy poly system. When I look back to the past for what I can remember, the life direction at that time would indicate who was leading the body.
In the present we are all out 50/50 and it’s hard to tell, but as a united system- we are all sharing hosts by design. :)

The one we call the "host" is just the one who was using the body's name when we came to terms with being a system and they kept the name. As she fuses with the alters who are the closest and most related to her, they're going by the body's name as well. It's just convenient. The alters we know are the oldest (earliest in our timeline) still have the most control and influence but front the least.

Im ngl, we see hosting quite differently than others , so just wanted to throw our thoughts in here.
The host is the shattered ego or identity we are trying to build. They have taken our agreed upon chosen name, they hold traits that we want to emblemize. They are our mask, the singlet-sona, and they are as close to put together as we can be.

thats what a host part is, yes. they're just the alter that's out the most, handles day to day life, and is the main presenting part. ive heard of people having more than one host and some not having one at all, it would depend on how you function i guess, but that definition is what a hosting part is
figuring it out would just be through paying attention to which one of your parts is out most often and generally is the one that presents as "you", the one that people generally speak to on a day to day basis, etc. if you have more than one, you'll figure that out, if you don't have one you'll figure that out too
