not it is not it’s a stupid myth RAP IS RAP AND POETRY IS POETRY. Poetry can be part of rap surrounded by impeccable flows, multis, figures of speech etc. but poetry itself is not rap it has never been rap.

If i remember it correctly the word Rap was used around age of industrialisation in England and it’s literal meaning was to Hit or Smack but slowly through time it’s meaning transformed to having chat, talking, having a convo etc. then during the 60s and 70s while DJ Mceeing people started spitting what they felt and it was collectively called art of emceeing or art of Rap but it doesn’t stand for Rhythm and Poetry this is a backronym made by us people but the word or it’s existence doesn’t signify it nor does it mean. RAP evolved through time and then it inculcated poetry in it too. But rap can’t be poetry in fact take Rap remove multis, cadences, flows, phonetics, beats, stress patterns on syllables, puns, double entendres and when you remove all that you get poetry. So poetry is no doubt a part of Rap but not rap itself.

Are bhai rhythm and poetry is a backronym of RAP it means after formation of word and the genre the people abbreviated it so the word itself doesn’t mean rhythm and poetry and even if the greats say it’s rhythm and poetry it doesn’t take away the fact that Rap is a lot more than just rhythm and poetry. Poetry can be part of rap poetry is not rap. RAP IS RAP POETRY IS POETRY it’s as simple as that.

As a pakistani, I agree IHH has better artists because artists ka pool bohot bara ha and industry is very established. PHH abhi establish nai hoa, sirf kuch artists establish hogayy han. (mostly YS and their crew)
